MinWriting 201Climate Changing EffectsWhen my brother was in elementary school, he said my father he had an ache in his tooth. My father though he got a decayed tooth and wanted him to go to dentist; however, my brother refused treating it because he was afraid of treating stuff. As time went by, he more often complained of having an ache in his carious tooth than when he had it first time. Finally, he decided to get a treat; nevertheless, he was too late. His case was the worst-he had to have a decayed tooth out and put a new tooth. Of course, he had to pay more money than treating it. If he went to dentist right away when he had a bad tooth, he would have threat more easily. Sometimes little things can turn into large things. Even if scientists are not convinced that global warming is fact or not, according to statistics −http://www.greenfacts.org−the average temperature is rising. It is not a big deal if the temperatures rise for a few days. However, if they increase for a long time, it will affect the Earth’s climate. Moreover, a changed climate would lead to many problems which would include three problems that would affect our life.First, people may have two types of health problems because of climate change. For example, heat stress and other heat related health problems are caused directly by very warm temperatures and high humidity. If heat stress is not treated, it may lead to very serious medical problems. I also used to have an allergy on my eyes because of hot and muggy days. Especially, during the day time in summer, when I walked on the sidewalk beside by road-most of Korean road paved with asphalt and the asphalt reflected the sun shine-, I felt itchy on my eyes strongly. Sometimes, I could not even open my eyes; moreover, the potential heat because of asphalt road and big buildings made the city really hot even at the night time and it made my eyes really painful all day long. Scientists are concerned that global warming would increase the number of hot days in many places and it would seriously be related with heat stress. The other problem is ecological changing; changes of food supplies and air pollution all have the possibility to indirectly affect human health. Some people and places are likely to be affected more than others because global warming would seriously impact different places in different ways.The next problem concerns ecological systems. Climate change may modify habitats and ecosystems-two things are very important for all creatures. Many of these places count on a balance of temperature, soil type and rainfall. Many of these places could be life threatening to living things that rely on habitats and ecosystems because nature would be out of balance. Most past climate changes occurred slowly; therefore, plants and animals were able to adapt to the new environment or move their habitats. However, if future climate changes occur rapidly, plants and animals may not be able to adjust quickly enough to survive. We do not know how the ecological systems will change because of global warming. Nevertheless, the one important thing is the balance of nature is too complicated and delicate. In other words, a small effect can turn into a big effect.Lastly, global warming may raise the sea level. A warmer climate may make glaciers melt. Then melting glaciers would run into the ocean and occupy more space and the level of the sea would rise. Even the rising of 1 foot of the sea level would effect both natural systems and artificial structures along coastlines-some of scientists predicted that sea level may rise between several inches and as much as 3 feet during the next century − http://www.epa.gov/globalwarming/. Coastlines flooding would give plenty of damage to some areas where salt is harming and threatening to plants and animals. For example, the number of oysters in the Delaware River and Chesapeake Bays is less than before because of the rising of the sea level −http://www.globalwarming.org/. Otherwise, we can move the structures back from the saltwater or make barriers to protect them from it. Unfortunately, we will have to spend a great deal of money for these.In conclusion, the climate changing effects can cause three major problems. It will influence human health directly and indirectly. Changed climate may damage to bionomical system. Also raised sea level because of global warming may affect negatively many seaside countries. We should realize global warming is the one of nature’s warnings and begin to try to preserve the environment. In addition, it is important to understand what global warming will bring for us. Global warming might be welcome to a country whose weather is very cold. However, it is also true the climate changes in some places would not be good at all.

MinThe Reasons for Koreans’ EmigrationFor a long time, people have emigrated from their countries to another country. Each country’s people have different reasons why they want to move to another country. In short, they have their own reasons for the emigration. In Korea, people want to move to the other counties where they think the countries are better than their country. There are two reasons why Koreans want to emigrate.First of all, the most serious problem is concerning the educational system. Korean’s high school and middle school’s education is just for entering a University. There are not other reasons why these educations are existed. They just focus on how to easily enter a university or a college. The students in Korea are easy to be confused about their studying; to gain admission to a school or to accomplish their dream. Unfortunately, some students do not know even what their dreams are; they just study hard because Korean education and parents make them do that. Moreover, Korean parents spend plenty of private school expenses for their children to follow school classes. By the irony of fate, if the students did not go to kind of extra classes, they would have a hard time to follow their classes. Moreover, English class of Korean school focus on just grammar for taking an exam to gain admission to a university. It is not helpful; they just memorize vocabulary and grammatical problems. They are really bad at speaking and listening. Conversations are more important in the real situation.Next, the economical problems are also important reasons why people want to emigrate. Even ten years ago, the people who graduated from a high rank university were easy to get jobs which pay a great deal of money−It is why people want to enter the high rank university. Nevertheless, now even those people have a hard time to get jobs. It means the number of positions is getting less and less. Therefore, they want to find jobs in the other countries’ which pay much money. Moreover, they have a kind of hope which is if they move to the other countries, they would be able to succeed and it would be easy to find a good job. In other words, they can not find the visions of jobs and they think it is impossible to achieve their goal in Korea.Finally, Koreans really want changes for these problems; they want to find a better educational system and jobs in the other country. In this way, the number of emigrants is extremely growing up. In these days Korea, it is called the strong wind of emigration. Even if it is a big problem, the government is not making any plan to solve this problem−I think because of this Koreans do not have hope in their country. Even if we do not know where these problems are from and when they began, we had better realize how serious these are and try to find solutions.

MinA Mental DiseaseOn theses days, 450 million people worldwide are affected by mental, neurological or behavioral problems at any time. About 873,000 people die by suicide every year. Mental illnesses are common to all countries and cause immense suffering. People with these disorders are often subjected to social isolation, poor quality of life and increased mortality. These disorders are the cause of staggering economic and social costs. Therefore, most middle and low-income countries devote less than 1% of their health expenditure to mental health. Consequently mental health policies, legislation, community care facilities, and treatments for people with mental illness are not given the priority they deserve.First, Psychosis is somebody who has a problem in function of his mind and brain and can not adapt to society. Psychosis is different from neurosis in this way; a mental patient does not know he has a mental problem and does not want to admit about that; otherwise, a neurosis patient already knows and admits he has a mental problem and it is going to give him a lot of pain. Nowadays, people have more interest in mental problems because people living in a sudden changed world could expose to a mental problem. We still do not know how people develop a mental disease. However, commonly, there are three cause; an internal, an external and mental. An internal causes are heredity problems and tendency problems. And an external cause is getting damaged in the body especially in the brain. And last, mental cause may be psychological. Just one of these reasons would not be able to make a mental disease; it would occur from being mixed three reason. When I worked in a mental hospital, I had a psychosis patient developing schizophrenia. There were surprised things about him. His parent had a mental problem and divorced. Moreover, almost of his relative were criminal or had a mental disease such as an alcoholism, a social phobia and a manic-depressive insanity. More amazing things were most my patients had grown up in a bad home background and had bad memories of their childhood. For instance, some of them got a child abuse and used to play alone and some of them did not spend much time with their parents. I think these examples would be able to support three causes.Next, we would have many kind of psychotic experiences if we developed a mental disease. For example, the most popular symptom “Hallucination” is. Psychotic hallucinations may occur in any of the five senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste and tough) and take on almost any form, which may include simple sensations to more meaningful experiences such as seeing and interacting with fully formed animals and people, hearing voices and complex tactile sensations. Auditory hallucinations, particularly the experience of hearing voices, is a common and often prominent feature of psychosis. Hallucinated voices may talk about, or to the person, and may involve several speakers with distinct personas. Auditory hallucinations tend to be particularly distressing when they are derogatory, commanding or preoccupying. Although “Hallucination” is popular symptom, I had never seen a patient who had a visual hallucination even for me as working in mental hospital for two years. My chief, psychiater, told me “visual hallucinations” was really critical problem and hard to have for patient. However, it was more easily to see patients who had auditory hallucinations. They usually told me they could hear some woman’s voice to come to her or commit suicide and some strange noise like a sound of a waterdrop from afar.Getting a mental disease could happen to anybody. Also, some of mental diseases are not supposed to completely cure. Moreover, in the past, people thought psychosis was just caused by heredity problems. However, these days, development of medicine (tranquilizers) and therapy make the possibility of cure higher than before. Therefore the patients have higher desire to come back to society. Nevertheless, the price of some tranquilizers are expensive to continually buy for patient. In addition, most saddest thing is some of patients would not be able to completely cure; they should take a pill without a break whole their life.
