EL101Date: 11/2/05Abortion should be legal.Today, abortion is one of the most controversial issues that has been continually argued over for years and probably many years to come. According to the article, “Today the conflict is abortion, and the very same argument is used. In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court, by a 7-2 decision, ruled that unborn humans were not ‘legal persons,’ that they were the property of the owner (the mother) who was given the basic constitutional right to choose to kill her unborn offspring” (Willike, 1998). Some people claim that abortion should be illegal, because they think that abortion is murder and an offense against ethics. However, I think, in most cases, abortion must be legal. As compared with the past, the age which people experience sex as the first time is getting younger therefore the number of the young girls who become pregnant also is increasing. In addition, as rape occurs, a large number of women become pregnant cruelly. Moreover, in certain cases,it as murder. It is partly true, but if so, since when should a fetus be considered a living thing? There should be an obvious point of time. If the point of time is two months, a fetus would not be looked on as a living thing before that day. It is unreasonable, because both before and after it is the same fetus. It does not mean that a fetus must be considered a non-living thing, but it means that using a given time point is unreasonable.People who think abortion should be banned insist that abortion is an offense against ethics. For example, a woman who wants to have a boy is pregnant with a girl. And if she knows she has a girl, is she going to abort? If she is going to abort in this circumstance, it is really an unethical act. Everybody would agree that it must be banned legally in this case. But this case would be rare because most people would know that it is against basic morals. On the other hand, if a woman who is pregnant knows that her fetus has physical trouble, she may abke care of the child could not feel happy, because they may have broken hearts while they look at their poor child. In high school, most students learn how to prevent pregnancy through sex education. Nevertheless, some imprudent students make a mess of it. If all of the girls should birth, the number of unmarried mothers is going to increase, thus the girls’ life would be changed by the birth. They would abandon what they want to go to college or work. It is too cruel that their life and their dreams should be changed because of a mistake. In certain cases, as a woman gives birth pregnancy could be dangerous to her health. If she has heart disease, high blood pressure, or any other illnesses that can threaten the woman’s life by the birth, abortion is a natural choice for her. It is obvious that the woman’s life is a higher priority than that of the fetus. After recovering from the illness, the woman can have a baby again. Most married couples have family planning to regulate their secondars to earn money got a baby in the middle of that period, they would abort. They already have a plan but they have an unexpected baby. Whatever they choose, it depends on the couple. According to the article, “Why abortion is legal,” being a mother is just one option for women and all options must be open. At the most basic level, the abortion issue is not really about abortion. It is about the value of women in society” (Nine reasons why abortions are legal, 2004).Rape is one of the biggest crimes. In this case, anyone would agree that if a girl becomes pregnant by rape, she has the right to abort. Additionally, nobody wants their daughters, sisters, or wife to give birth. Just the mere thought of it makes us shudder. On the website, “http://www.marchforlife.org” it reads, “Each woman who is victimized by a rapist is innocent of wrongdoing. She has been physically assaulted, personally violated, and left with her enormous and long-lasting trauma. No one can unrape a woman. There is nsome truths to the argument that abortion should be banned by a law. However in most cases, it should be legal. Even if the opposition’s argument is as a method to reduce the increasing abortion rate, it has too much what we have to forgive, as like on the former occasions. We can not prevent abortion itself, but we have to try to prevent the increasing abortion rate in other ways.ReferencesMarch for Life Education & Defense Fund. (n.d). Schools in Korea and AmericaToday there are so many schools in the world. They may have a great number of similarities and differences. I, who went to school for 12 years in Korea, would like to compare and contrast about schools in Korea and America. Both Korean and American schools basically have several similarities. To begin with, elementary schools are quite similar: there is one teacher for all subjects for each grade, and the classes are coeducational and the majority of the teachers are women. Also the subjects taught at the elementary schools are similar such as reading, writing, mathematics, music, sports, art, etc. In addition, both Korean and American elementary students spend approximately the same number of hours per day per week in school: they usually spend about seven to eight hours in a day. Next, both countries require children to attend school for at least nine years. Usually children start school at age six, and leave at age sixteen. And after elementary school eachKorea, there are no school buses. Instead students usually go to school by a public bus. Very rarely some schools have buses but there are not enough. On the other hand, in the United States, almost every school has school buses.Another major difference is in the types of schools available. In Korea, there are six years of elementary school and three years of middle and high school separately, while in America, schools are divided into eight years of elementary and four years of high school. Furthermore, all Korean students who graduate middle school have to choose between academic preparatory and vocational training in high school. In contrast, American students do not have to choose like Korean students do, but they also have to consider about what direction they are going to be going in: between college preparation and vocational study. Anyone graduating high school in the United States has the opportunity to go to a college or university, although to graduate college is hard in Amerean SAT to go to college spend a long day: they go to school at seven in the morning and come back home about 10 or 11 at night. This is one of the greatest controversial problems known in South Korea, because although studying hard is required to enter a good college, students can not participate in anything else. Korean people usually say that to enter college is difficult, but to finish college is easy. The Korea SAT is divided by four of sections; Korean, math, sciences, English. However, there is no writing section, so it is one of reasons that Korean students treat writing lightly: only a few of the colleges require the writing skill for admission. While in American high school students usually spend a full day in school and have to prepare for the SAT on their own. It is true that American students are better in writing than Korean students. However, they are usually poor in mathematics, because, probably, they are only used to using a calculator in math from childhood but alsoKorean schools, except elementary schools, usually want students to wear uniforms and are divided as a male school and a female school. And there is a class monitor who represents all students in each class. They help their teachers and lead all students to make a bow to their teacher when a teacher enters and leaves in the classroom. During class time, most of the teachers teach students as they explain about what students learn rather than students discussing topics with each other. In addition in Korean schools, in the past, there was physical punishment depending on each teacher. Even though it has almost disappeared today, it still remains in case students do not comply with a teacher’s request or a rule of the school. (When I was a high school student, it was there still.) For example, if students do not do their homework for the due day, some teachers strike on students’ palms or hips by a stick like a ruler or even a billiard cue also depending on each teacher’s taste. Such a bg a daily lesson, before going home, all students have to clean up their classrooms, hallways or rest rooms etc., which are divided each class. As students clean up such places themselves through high school, they learn how to clean up other places too. Whereas, in the United States, a few schools require students to wear uniforms and rarely are schools separated as boy and girl schools. And there is no class monitor. American schools usually have up to twenty-five total students, so they often have discussion time during class time. In addition in America, it is never allowed for teachers to punish students physically. If a teacher strikes a student, the teacher may not come back to the school. If students do not do homework or make noise during class, then a teacher may give students a warning and then they may reduce students’ grades. After all sessions, American students do not have to clean up their places, instead custodial staff do this work.It is true between Korean schools and.
