How does religion figure in this novel?The religious symbols used in the novel are about the original sin of human and the Resurrection of Christ who died to clear human sin. The tree that Caddy climbed up to see what was going on reminds the reader of the <tree of life> in Eden. Caddy was told not to climb up the tree, but she did with muddy underwear on. This is a metaphor to the loss of Eden in the Genesis on the base of human that committed forbidden things. It gives a hint about Caddy`s degradation that comes after she grows up. Another religious symbol is Quentin`s empty room after she runs away with the money Jason hid. This is a metaphor to the Resurrection because it is similar to the empty tomb of Jesus after he revived.
