본문내용

본 연구는 1968년부터 1996년까지의 바아스 집권기간을 연구기간으로 정하였으며 왕정기간(1932-58)과 혼란기(1958-68)동안의 쿠르드족 저항운동은 연구범위에서 제외시켰다. 1968년 이후 쿠르드족 저항운동에 대한 연구는 약 30년간 지속된 바아스 정권하에서 일어난 쿠르드족 저항운동에 대한 일반적인 성격을 보여주고 있다.
본 논문은 모두 5장으로 구성되어 있다. 서론에 이어서 제2장에서는 이라크 쿠르드족 사회의 특성, 이라크의 사회와 정치 환경, 이라크 바아스당의 쿠르드족 정책을 통해 이라크 쿠르드족 저항운동의 형성 배경을 분석했다. 제3장에서는 1968년에서 1996년까지의 기간을 저항운동 세력과 정치 환경의 변화에 따라 KDP의 저항운동(1968-75), PUK와 KDP의 저항운동(1975-88), 이라크 쿠르디스탄 자치(1988-96)로 구분하여 이라크 바아스당의 정책과 이라크 쿠르드족 저항운동의 특성을 알아보았다. 제4장에서는 이라크 쿠르드족과 정치적으로 이해관계를 가진 터키, 이란의 이라크 쿠르드족 정책을 분석하고 이라크 정권들과 이라크 쿠르드족의 생존권 문제를 고찰하며 국제사회의 주요 관심사인 이라크 쿠르드족 인권문제를 살펴봄으로써 이라크 쿠르드족의 생존권과 인권 문제를 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 제5장에서는 결론적으로 이라크 쿠르드족 저항운동의 성격과 그 특성을 분석 정리하였다.

제2장 이라크 쿠르드족 저항운동의 배경


제1절 이라크 쿠르드족 사회의 특성

이라크 쿠르드족 사회는 제1차세계대전 후, 전후처리과정에서 이라크 영토에 포함되었던 쿠르디스탄에 형성된 쿠르드족 사회를 의미한다. 이자디Mehrdad R. Izady 박사는 쿠르디스탄을 북부 쿠르디스탄Northern Kurdistan, 서부 쿠르디스탄Western Kurdistan, 중앙 쿠르디스탄Central Kurdistan, 동부 쿠르디스탄Eastern Kurdistan, 남부 쿠르디스탄Southern Kurdistan, 후라산 엔클레이브Hurasani Enclave, 중앙 아나톨리아 엔클레이브Central Anatolian Enclave와 같이 7개의 지역으로 구분하였다.
