1. Object
Through this experiment, we will understand the operating principle of the cascode amplifier using MOSFET and measure its characteristics. The goal is to find the input/output characteristic curve of a cascode amplifier and to verify the voltage gain. Also, the operation of the DC bias signal in the large signal is checked.
2. Related theories
The cascode means a two-stage amplifier that consists of a common-emitter stage feeding into a common-base stage.
Compared to a normal single amplifier, this combination has one or more of the following characteristics: higher input–output isolation, higher input impedance, high output impedance, higher bandwidth. This circuit is consisted of a common source amplifier and a common gate amplifier. Input voltage is input to a gate terminal of a common source amplifier and a result value is output from a drain terminal of the common gate amplifier. As shown in the figure, current proportional to a small signal Vin flows, and this current affects the resistance and voltage is generated.
