Executive Summary:
After completing an internal and external analysis of The Toro Company’s current position, we have highlighted two key issues facing the organization and two recommendations that we believe would allow Toro to accelerate growth within its water irrigation segment.
Issues
•Increased Competition in the Professional Segment: Historically, the net sales and profit margins from the professional irrigation segment have been greater than those from the residential segment, which has propelled Toro to focus more on the professional business (Investor 1). However, recently there has been rising competition in the professional market from Toro’s global competitors Jain Irrigation, Lindsay Corporation, and John Deere, which challenges Toro’s current position.
•Low Geographical Penetration in Global Markets: Compared to its competitors, Toro has lagged behind in regards to capturing market share on an international scale. As of December 2013, Toro has irrigation-focused...
