Grandpa was a friendly man to his granddaughter, Jess. As most of grandfathers take care of grandchildren, Grandpa has looked after Jess. As Jess was swimming in the race, He cheered her up. But he fell down and was sent to the hospital. The family had planned to go on a vacation. Four of the family headed for the cottage which was run by the Grays.
Grandpa used to live in the village until he left at his age of 15. When he left for the hometown, he might have known about his death. The river boy could be Grandpa`s young feature. While painting the picture titled River Boy, Grandpa could have thought of his young memoir. According to Alfred who grew up with Grandpa in the same village, Grandpa was a good swimmer. He wanted to swim from the village to Braymouth near 24 miles away.
Jess liked swimming near the stream and the river. She swam by herself next morning when they arrived at the cottage. She knew the current flows in the river. The water on August 7th was warm enough to swim. She was always wearing the swimsuit looking forward to swimming anytime. She saw a boy swimming in the river. He was born to a swimmer. She thought he swam well. So she would like to say hello to him when she met him again. She thought she could swim with him.
Unfortunately, when Grandpa painted near the river, he got fainted. Jess managed to take him to the bedroom. He got weaker. Dr. Fairweather took care of him. He wanted Grandpa to go to the hospital. But Grandpa didn`t want to go there. He seemed to think that he would leave there becoming a dead body. Nobody could persuade him to go to the hospital. Grandpa was so stubborn.
Jess was so sad that she sobbed while swimming in the river. At the moment she saw the river boy swimming close to her. He said, "Why are you crying?" Jess and the river boy talked each other. Jess once met him at the waterfall upward the river. The river boy asked her to help him swim from the stream to the sea. It was 24 miles to the sea from the stream. Jess couldn`t say, Yes. She didn`t answer to his favor. The river boy also told her that she could help Grandpa finish painting.
Next morning Jess decided to have Grandpa finish painting with her. It was not easy for her to help Grandpa because he couldn`t walk for himself. He sat in the wheelchair to paint the River Boy. Jess gave him her arm and hand supporting his arm. It took the whole day for them to finish painting. Grandpa was proud of Jess. Although Mom said that Grandpa failed his painting, Grandpa was happy with it. Jess thought he would be healthy again.
Jess went to the fall early in the morning to meet the river boy. They talked about swimming to the sea. She didn`t decide to swim with him. He swam toward the sea. Jess got back to the cottage and found the car was gone. Alfred waited for her to tell her what happened to Grandpa. Grandpa had a heart attack and was sent to the hospital. Mom gave Alfred a mobile phone for Jess to call her anytime. Alfred told Jess that Grandpa wanted to swim from the stream to the sea at his young age. Jess ran to the bank of the river. She dove into the river to swim. She started swimming toward Braymouth. She wanted to catch up the river boy.



She swam for more 9 hours. She didn`t stop swimming, thinking of Grandpa. She could meet the river boy. They swam together by Braymouth. As Jess reached the shore, Police officers were waiting for her to take her to the hospital. A female police officer cover her with a jacket. When Jess arrived at the hospital, Grandpa had already passed away. Mom hugged Jess. Jess was tearing in her mom.



After crematorium, Jess told Dad that she might know what Grandpa wanted her to do for him. Dad heard his daughter. Jess took a small urn for Grandpa`s crematory body. She went to the fall. It was not hard to climb up the waterfall. She let Grandpa flow to the sea along the river.
