Hierarchy is an arrangement of items in which the items are represented as being "above," "below," or "at the same level as" one another. Abstractly, a hierarchy is simply an ordered set or an acyclic graph. ( quoted by wikipedia )
Hierarchy is in everywhere. In a home, there is a hierarchy, especially in Asia, our ancestors have thought children should obey to their parents. And in school, we should listen to teachers well. But most of all, long time ago there was a definite hierarchy in Korea. In our dynasty, many things stand for hierarchy. A palace, space between guests and hosts, and wig with accessories. Many non-verbal communication was there covertly.
There are several things to check in our history about hierarchy. We can’t go back to our dynasty. Why don’t we just check our historical drama. It would help a lot.
In Dong-E, and Sunggyungwan Scandal like these historical drama, we can see many things which show hierarchy.
Especially someone who are in higher class has a bigger palace. Sometimes one palace has more than 5 rooms, even 10 rooms. It just shows how much they have. Try to show off their money. And their houses are located on the high spot. The reason why those houses were there is low-level people had to look up the high-class people.
