Company Overview

Apple supplies a range of computer, consumer electronics and related services, including hardware and software. The company key product ranges include the range of Mac and iMac desktops and notebooks. The iPod, which is a market leader in portable MP3 players and iTunes, a related digital music download service. One of the most recent product launches includes the iPhone, a new generation of mobile phone with Internet access and touch screen technology.

The Apple Corporation has a market capitalisation of approximately $184 billion (Yahoo Finance, 2010). Between 2008 and 2009, the turnover of the company was estimated to be around $34 billion. Apple has performed well despite a downward trend within the industry and has experienced quarterly growth of 25% in 2009 (Yahoo Finance, 2010). Apple outperformed major competitors who suffered a drop in sales growth for the same period, largely as a result of the global economic downturn (Yahoo Finance, 2010).


PESTLE Analysis

The PESTLE analysis is a tool for identifying factors in the macro-environment that may impact the current and future strategic direction for an organisation (Worthington and Britton, 2006).
