‘Michael S. Dell’ is a chairman and chief executive officer of DELL.
Philosophy and Ideology: ‘Customer is the center of the business mode.’
It is always important that we communicate with their needs. But more important thing is that, when customer’s demand changes, we understand these changes in attitude, more thoroughly than any other company. From the beginning, the focus of the entire process in our business has been listening to the words of customers, responding to customer’s needs, and realizing what customers want. Also, current customers are important, but that prospect is a very important customer. You should not forget the presence of people who do not use your products ─ customers are likely to be. Therefore, the base of business is how to meet the current customers and the prospective customers.
2. Early Life and Education: Michael Saul Dell was born in Houston, Texas, on February 23, 1965. The son of Alexander (an orthodontist) and Lorraine Dell (a stockbroker), Dell attended Herod Elementary School in Houston, Texas. Dell had his first encounter with a computer at the age of 15 when he broke down a brand new Apple II computer and rebuilt it, just to see if he could. Dell attended Memorial High School in Houston where he did not excel academically. During that time he did however exhibit formidable business instincts selling subscriptions for the Houston Post. Selling to newlyweds Dell made $18,000 and bought a car and three computers with it.
