A. Describe the current SME sector in the UK economy.
Current SME sector in the UK economy

UK economy is facing the difficulty in such a time when it is just about to get out of depression due to unfavorable factors such as global economic crisis and recent Greece’s application of relief loan. UK once recorded consecutive growth from the 3rd quarter of 1992 to 1st quarter. However in 3rd quarter in 2008, when the financial crisis accelerated, the rate of growth collapsed to -0.6%. In other words, it got a huge blow by the financial crisis starting from the U.S. As a result, UK government made a downward readjustment of the prospect estimation of economic growth from 2.75% to -0.75~1.25. They are concerning about the first official recession since 1991, and it is coming true. To overcome the crisis, UK government made public of the steps to stimulate the economy in Pre-Budget Report to put 20 billion pounds which is about 1% of GDP into each categories of the economy. Pre-Budget Report has very important functions to decide priorities of the economic policies and set the plan of expense. And under the circumstance, the effect of small firms on economy is enormous.
