“My momma always said; life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you`re gonna get." This is one of the most famous quotes appeared in the film ‘Forrest Gump’. Together with Gump’s and other characters’ varied life, the audience could have a taste of all different flavors of chocolate – nausea of mistreatment, sweetness of love, and bitterness of death. Based on the novel ‘Forrest Gump’ written by Winston Groom (1986), the film was produced by the director Robert Zemeckis, and the world-famous actor Tom Hanks in 1994. Through Gump’s rather dull but pure aspect toward life, the audience could get relieved and free from the chaos of competition and selfishness in their daily life. Like this, this film seemingly only focuses on delivering the fact that success and glory will be followed of itself when we do our best in every second, but from the political perspective, Forrest Gump can be interpreted as a typical American-like movie which agitates the rationality of the main-stream mostly caused by National or governmental decision.


JENNY: Why are you so good to me?
FORREST: You`re my girl.
JENNY: I`ll always be your girl.
Together with many scenes that Forrest saves Jenny, this scene reflects Forrest` role as a guardian and Jenny`s attitude toward Forrest. That is, as a guardian, Forrest always accepts Jenney no matter what she has done, but as a protege Jenney takes his love granted while rejecting his protect. It can be interpreted in another way the mainstream to Counterculture is what Forrest`s generosity to Jenny`s recklessness in a sense. At last, Exhausted and sick, Jenny returns to Forrest with their son.
JENNY: I want to apologize for anything that I ever did to you, cause I was messed up for a long time, and.."
After passing through all the hardships, she finally becomes relieved and settled with the help of Forrest, the mainstream culture, which implies the relentlessness of Counterculture that has no other way but belong to mainstream
