Earnest Hemingway`s short story is quite difficult to understand because he pursued brevity and economy in narration. He did not give enough explanation about what was happening in the story; instead, he used implied words. Explain about the `Iceberg Theory`, Hemingway asserted that writers should eliminate the unnecessary parts to reinforce one eighth of the iceberg. Also, the Iceberg theory explained Hemingway`s distinctive writing style: lack of background information, use of symbols, objective point of view, and open ending.
