When the movie I Am Legend was released in 2007, many fans of the original novel I Am Legend seemed a bit disappointed. The novel I Am Legend was already twice adapted for film even before the 2007 version of the I Am Legend. The original novel was written by American author Richard Matheson and published in 1954. In 1964, The Last Man on Earth was the first adapted as a film. Then I Am Legend, which Will Smith starring and Francis Lawrence directing, followed by The Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston, in 1971. None of them has bigger success than original novel has.



Finally, two of the I Am Legends have different endings parts. Later, Neville meets some other characters like Ruth and Anna. These two characters also have quite a few differences. Ruth is the spy who is sent by virus infected people. She is infected with the virus as well, which means she’s not the same human being like Robert Neville. Later part of the film, Robert Neville meets other human survivors, Anna and Ethan. And actually the survivors’ colony exists out there along with other survivors. Neville is not the last man on earth. At the end of the book, Robert Neville is captured by new form of human or vampire society. Then, he realizes that he is the one new people are scared of, like he and his kind were scared of vampires in old times. He is fighting vampires, the evils; but he is just murderer for them.
