Brat Farrar is an English orphan who, after much travel, has decided to come back to England. Brat is talked into impersonating Patrick Ashby, Simon’s older twin who committed suicide eight years ago, by Alec Loding who knew well about the Ashbys. Because the Patrick’s body was never found so nobody was sure of the true story. Soon Brat is given the Ashbys fortune instead of Simon Ashby of Latchetts when he became twenty one years old. Then Brat started to suspect that Simon killed his own brother, Patrick. One day, finally Simon told Brat the truth that he killed his brother, but he didn’t worry about that. Because Simon knew that Brat couldn’t tell the truth anybody. Brat twisted in the wind, couldn`t tell anyone. Also there was no one believe him when he tell the truth without evidence. Then What Brat does about the moral dilemma and the threat to his own life? Brat was posed by the murderer, Simon. However, that made for a suspenseful and satisfying conclusion


Chapter. 1 The Ashby Family
The background of this story was Latchetts, an old horse farm in the South Downs, near the English coast. The farm had been owned by the Ashby family for generations. But the Ashby parents are dead. There had been a slightly older twin brother, Patrick, but he disappeared in his early teens, apparently drowned in the sea, whether by accident or suicide. So Simon, his twin brother, would get the Ashby’s fortune when he became twenty one years old.
