대형불화에 사용된 녹색안료와 내후성 시험편과의 열화양상 비교 연구 (Comparative Research on Deterioration Patterns of Green Pigments between used in Hanging Painting and Specimens of Weathering Resistance)

초록

전통 회화 유물에 많이 사용되는 녹색안료인 염화동과 공작석을 이용하여 채색시편을 제작한 후 내후성 시험을 실시하고, 이를 실제 대형불화 유물과 비교 분석하여 안료의 박리·박락 등 열화 특성을 살펴보고, 안료와 바탕재에 따른 열화의 상관관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 바탕재는 고려불화 및 조선시대의 초상화에 많이 사용되는 견과 삼베를 이용하였다. 실험결과, 안료의 변색보다는 균열과 박락이 주로 나타났고, 색차는 30일을 기준으로 박락이 심화되었으며, 모두 견보다는 삼베 바탕재에서 크게 나타났다. 적외선분광분석에서는 주로 아교의 특성 피크에서 스펙트럼의 변화가 확인되었으며, 염화동 채색시편은 바탕재에 상관없이 유사한 변화가 확인된 반면, 공작석 채색시편은 삼베 바탕재에서 보다 변화가 뚜렷하게 관찰되었다. 결정구조분석에서는 염화동 안료는 공작석 안료 보다 열화시험에 따른 광물학적 특성 변화가 보다 적게 나타나는 것으로 판단된다. 열화시험편과 회화유물의 열화양상을 비교분석한 결과, 안료 입자의 크기와 혼합비율, 바탕재의 상태 등 다양한 요인들에 의해 내후성 실험시편과 실제 유물과에서 나타나는 열화 특성은 차이가 있었다. 향후 녹색안료의 입도변화, 다양한 인공 열화 및 부식조건, 광물학적 및 화학적 변화 연구 등이 연구가 수행된다면, 유물에서의 열화 메커니즘을 밝혀 낼 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영어초록

Colored specimens were made using atacamite and malachite, green pigments commonly used in traditional painting artifacts, and then weathering resistance tests were conducted. This results were compared and analyzed with actual Hanging Painting artifacts to examine deterioration characteristics such as peeling of the pigment, and to confirm the influence relationship between deterioration depending on the pigments and base materials. The base materials used were silk and hemp, which are often used in Goryeo Buddhist paintings and portraits of the Joseon Dynasty. As a result of the test, cracks and peeling were mainly observed rather than discoloration of the pigment, and the color difference worsened after 30 days. These all appeared larger on hemp substrate than on silk. In infrared spectroscopic analysis, spectral changes were confirmed mainly in the characteristic peaks of glue, and similar changes were confirmed in specimens colored with atacamite regardless of the base material. On the other hand, changes were observed more clearly in the malachite colored specimen than in the hemp base material. XRD analysis shows that copper chloride pigments show less change in mineralogical properties due to weathering resistance tests than malachite pigments. The deterioration patterns of the test specimens and the painting artifacts were compared and analyzed. As a result, there were a difference in the deterioration characteristics of the weathering resistance test specimens and the actual artifacts due to various factors such as the size and mixing ratio of the pigment particles and the conditions of the base materials. In the future, if research will be conducted on changes in the particle size of green pigments, various artificial deterioration conditions, and mineralogical and chemical changes, and the deterioration mechanism in relics will be possible to reveal.
