역사만화의 교육적 기능과 한계 -이원복의 ‘일본 역사’편을 중심으로- (Educational Function and Limitations of Historical Comics)

초록

In this study, the educational value of this book, “History of Japan” from the series “Faraway Nations and Neighboring Nations” of Lee Won-bok was examined and also the educational meaning of cartoon expression examined. The results of this study are as follows. First, the contents of Japanese history of this book seem not to be very different from the contents of the literary texts and the textbooks on the subject of Japanese history. Second, this book is worthy of learning materials. Third, the cartoon form of this book is very monotonous to pursue the purpose of providing information. Fourth, the sound field in this book also reveals a simple structure. Fifth, in this book, rather than portraying the factual characteristics of individual figures as they are, the characters set several characters and select the appropriate caricatures. It simplifies the picture to give a sense of security and familiarity, but there is a limit to conveying inner feelings. Sixth, this book has no storyline for epic comics whose conflict structures and secrets are revealed. In conclusion, if general comics is an art genre that simultaneously pursues intrinsic value and fun, this book needs to make some changes in the way of expression in order to improve the delivery of the contents.
