팀 스포츠 선수들이 지각하는 실패두려움 구성요인 탐색 (Exploring the Component of the Fear of Failure Perceived by Team Sports Players)

초록

목적 본 연구에서는 팀 스포츠 선수들의 실패두려움의 원인을 파악하여 어떠한 구조로 이루어져 있는지, 선수들의 실패두려움 구성요인은 무엇인지 심층적으로 분석하여 탐색하고자 한다.
방법 본 연구에서는 이를 위하여 개방형 질문지와 심층면담 방법을 채택하여 진행하였다. 개방형 질문지는 중학교, 고등학교, 대학교 팀 스포츠 선수 260명을 대상으로 조사하였으며 이를 통해 수집된 자료는 귀납적 내용분석을 실시하였다. 이후 심층면담은 실패경험이 있는 팀 스포츠 운동선수 9명을 대상으로 일대일 면담을 진행하여 팀 스포츠 선수들의 실패두려움을 심층적으로 파악하였다.
결과 본 연구의 결과는 개방형질문지를 통하여 수집된 582개의 원자료를 귀납적 내용분석을 통해 일반영역 5개, 세부영역 9개를도출하여 범주화 되었으며 일반영역으로는 ‘실수반복’, ‘부상과 재활’, ‘경쟁이탈’, ‘자기책망’, ‘주요타자평가’로 범주화 되었다. ‘실수반복’ 요인은 세부요인으로 실수반복이 있으며, ‘부상과 재활’ 요인의 세부요인은 능력상실, 부상재활로 나타났다. ‘경쟁이탈’ 요인의세부요인은 포지션위협, 진학/진로위협으로 나타났으며, ‘자기책망’ 요인의 세부요인은 죄책감과 자괴감로 나타났고, ‘주요타자평가’의 세부요인은 지도자와 부모로 나타났다.
결론 실패두려움은 선수에게 악영향을 초래하고 부정적인 정서를 심어주며, 경기력을 저하시키는 심리요인이다. 선수들이 어떠한이유로 두려움을 느끼는지에 대해 본 연구의 결과를 통해 밝혀냈다. 이에 대한 해결방안을 모색하고 선수들에게 세밀한 심리적 지원을 하기 위해서는 스포츠 환경에 있는 구성원들이 함께 주도적으로 이루어져야 한다고 생각된다. 이는 궁극적으로 선수들의 경기력향상에 도움이 되는 결과를 가져올 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Objectives In this study, we will investigate the fear of failure of team sports players, analyze in-depth what structure it is composed of, and explore the components that hinder players' performance.
Methods To this end, this study adopted an open questionnaire and an in-depth interview method. The open questionnaire was surveyed on 260 middle, high school, and university team sports players, and the data collected through this were inductive content analysis. After that, in-depth interviews were conducted one-on-one interviews with nine team sports athletes with experience of failure to grasp in-depth the fear of failure of team sports players.
Results The results of this study were categorized by deriving 5 general areas and 9 detailed areas through inductive content analysis of 582 raw materials collected through open questionnaires, and general areas were categorized as ‘Repeated mistakes’, ‘Injuries and Rehabilitation’, ‘Out of Competition’, ‘Self-Blame’, and ‘significant other's evaluation’. The detailed factors of the “Repeated mistakes” are repeated mistakes, and the detailed factors of the “Injuries and Rehabilitation” factor were incompetence and injury rehabilitation. The detailed factors of the “out of competition” factor were position threats and enter school/career threats, the detailed factors of the “self-blame” factor were guilt and shame, and the detailed factors of “significant other's evaluation” were leaders and parents.
Conclusions Fear of failure is a psychological factor that adversely affects the player, instills negative emotions, and lowers performance. The results of this study revealed why players feel afraid. In order to find a solution to this and provide detailed psychological support to athletes, it is believed that members in the sports environment should take the lead together. This could ultimately lead to results that help the players improve their performance.
