중심-탈중심주의의 문화정치학: 조선중화주의와 모스크바－제3로마사상을 중심으로 (Cultural Politics of Centrism and De-centrism: Focusing on ‘Chosun-Sinocentrism’ and ‘Moscow-The Third Rome’)

초록

국제정치는 중심주의와 탈중심주의의 중첩된 이해관계 속에서 중심문명과 주변국가 간에 포섭과 배제, 균형과 편승 전략을 통해 권력을 확보하고, 나아가 자국의 정치적 명분과 실리를 유지하려 한다. 주변부 국가들은 중심부 문화의 이상화된 세계관이나 가치 및 제도 등을 보편적이고 우월한 것으로 받아들인다. 이후 중심부의 문화는 주변국의 보편적인 세계관으로 내면화되고 주변부 국가들은 모방과 동화를 통해 자국의 정체성을 중심부 문화에 일치, 통합시키려는 태도를 갖게 된다. 지배문화 혹은 중심부 문화는 이런 방식을 통해 언제나 강자의 무기로 활용되었다. 반면 중심문명이 몰락할 경우 그동안 중심문명에 동화되었던 주변부 국가들은 문화정체성의 위기에 봉착해 혼란을 겪게 된다. 최근 탈냉전, 탈이데올로기, 탈중심적 국제질서로 인한 중심성 해체와 문화정체성 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 정서적 동질감과 역사적 공감대의 형성이 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 중국(명)과 비잔틴의 붕괴 과정에서 중심문명에 대한 주변부 국가의 문화정체성 회복의 사례로 조선중화주의와 모스크바-제3로마사상을 살펴보고자 한다. 조선중화주의와 제3로마사상은 17세기 동아시아와 15세기 동유럽에서 시간과 공간을 달리하여 발생한 사건과 이념이다. 당대 중심부 문명의 붕괴라는 공통된 국제정치적 배경을 갖고 있는 조선중화주의와 제3로마사상에 대한 연구는 중심주의 해체로 인한 문화정체성 위기 극복을 위한 역사적 교훈을 제공하게 될 것이다. 중국과 비잔틴제국의 주변부였던 조선과 러시아가 건국초기에는 적극적이고 자발적으로 중심문명을 수용하고 동화되었다. 특히 문명의 중심축을 상실했을 때에 양국은 탈중심주의를 표방함으로써 문화적 주변성을 극복하고 나아가 국가발전을 모색하는 유사성을 보임과 동시에 조선은 탈주변화를 목표로, 러시아는 재중심화를 추구했던 차이점에 주목하였다.

영어초록

International politics would secure power through the strategy of inclusion and exclusion, and balance and bandwagon between central civilization and surrounding nation in the interest of centralism strategy and Post-centralism overlapped and further, maintain her political cause and benefit. Surrounding countries accepts idealized view of the world or value and institution as universal and superior. Afterwards, central culture is internalized into universal view of the world of surrounding countries, and the countries have the attitude to match and integrate their entity with central culture through imitation and assimilation. Governing or central culture was always used as the strong's weapon. On the other hand, in the case of central civilization's collapse, surrounding countries assimilated with central civilization in the meanwhile were in the crisis of cultural entity and sometimes suffers disorder. Recently, for the conquest of centrality break-up and cultural entity crisis by post-cold war, post-ideology, and post-centralism international order, emotional sense of homogeneity and historical consensus need formation. This study would analyze Chosun-Sinocentrism and Moscow-The Third Rome as a case of cultural entity recovery in surrounding countries in China(Ming) and Byzantine. Chosun-Sinocentrism and The Third Rome are event and ideology that appeared in East North Asia of the 17th century and in Eastern Europe of the 15th century in different time and space. Then, Chosun and Russia around China and the Byzantine Empire were deeply assimilated with central civilization. Sudden collapse of surrounding countries shook basis of cultural legitimacy and entity in Chosun and Russia. Chosun-Sinocentrism and Moscow-The Third Rome are political ideology presented while Chosun and Russian that lost civilization's central axis overcame cultural circumambiency and sought national development. Study on Chosun-Sinocentrism and Moscow-The Third Rome with common international and political background, collapse of central civilization will provide historical lessons against cultural entity crisis by centralism break-up.
