ESG 키워드를 포함하는 특허의 기술 동향 분석 (Technology Trend Analysis of Patents Containing ESG Keywords)

본 연구는 ESG 키워드를 포함하는 특허데이터를 분석하여 관련 기술 동향을 파악하였다. WIPS ON을 통해 2024년 8월까지 전 세계에 출원된 특허를 검색하였고, 노이즈 데이터 제거 후 총 222건의 특허가 유효 특허로 선별되었다. 글로벌 특허 출원의 동향은 2011년에 처음 PCT로 ESG 키워드 특허가 출원되었으며, 2015-2017년에 다시 출원이 시작된 이후, 2019년부터 출원이 급격히 증가하여 2022년에는 출원이 73건에 이르렀다. 국가별 출원 비율은 한국, 중국, 미국, 일본, 유럽 순으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. IPC 분석 결과는 G06 클래스의 특허가 가장 많았으며, 키워드 빈도 분석 결과 상위 단어는 enterprise, index, data, evaluation, information, score, module, database, news, company로 나타났다. 키워드 네트워크 분석 결과 ESG 키워드 특허의 트렌드는 기업의 ESG 요소별 데이터를 수집하고 정보를 저장하며 분석하는 장치, ESG 지표에 따라 평가하고 점수를 계산하는 모듈을 기반으로 하는 시스템 특허가 다수였다. 그 외 기업의 ESG 리스크를 분석하거나, 관련 뉴스 기사를 수집하여 분석하는 기업 평가 서버, 블록체인을 기반으로 기업의 ESG 정보를 저장하는 방법 특허 등으로 확인되었다.
특허 분석을 통해 파악된 기술의 동향과 트렌드는 현재 상황에 적합한 기술의 발전 방향을 반영한다. ESG에 관련한 규제와 변화에 대응해 기술의 개발과 특허 전략을 수립하는 것은 기업의 지속 가능한 성장을 위해 필수적일 것이다.

영어초록

This study analyzes patent data containing ESG keywords to identify related technology trends. Patent data filed worldwide up to August 2024 were retrieved using the WIPS ON. After removing noise data, a total of 222 patents were selected as valid patents. First, global patent filing trends are outlined. The first ESG keyword patent was filed through the PCT in 2011. Patent filings resumed between 2015 and 2017. Patent filings have increased sharply since 2019. In 2022, patent filings reached 73. The proportion of patent filings by country was highest in South Korea, followed by China, the United States, Japan, and Europe, in that order. The IPC analysis revealed that patents in the G06 class were the most prevalent. Keyword frequency analysis revealed that 'enterprise,' 'index,' 'data,' 'evaluation,' 'information,' 'score,' 'module,' 'database,' 'news,' and 'company' appeared as the most frequent terms. Keyword network analysis indicated that the majority of trends in ESG keyword patents pertain to patents related to 'devices for obtaining data on ESG elements of enterprises, storing information, and conducting analysis' and 'systems based on modules that perform evaluation and score calculations according to ESG indices.' In addition, patents were identified related to 'analysis of ESG risks for enterprises,' 'enterprise evaluation servers that obtain and analyze news articles,' and 'methods for the storage of enterprise ESG information based on blockchain.
The trends and directions of technology identified through patent analysis reflect the development of technologies suited to current conditions. Developing technologies and establishing patent strategies in response to ESG-related regulations and changes will be essential for the sustainable growth of enterprises.
