경상남도 하동군 남동측 해안 지형·지질의 지질교육적 활용방안 (A Geo-educational Application Plan for the Geomorphology and Geology on the Southeastern Coast of Hadong-Gun, Gyeonsangnamdo)

초록

이 연구는 경상남도 하동군 진교면 양포리 해안의 지형과 지질 특성을 조사하고 이를 초등학교 과학 지질단원과 관련하여 교육 자료로 활용하기 위한 방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 지역에는 중생대 하산동층이 분포하고 있으며, 퇴적암이 분포하고 다양한 종류의 화석이 분포하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양포항에서 남서쪽으로 약 180m 길이의 해안은 모래와 자갈 해빈, 파식대지, 해식애의 해안 지형을 이루고 있다. 해식애의 높이는 약 10m 이하이며, 파식대지의 경사는 매우 완만하여 5o이내 이다. 해빈은 주로 자갈과 모래로 이루어져 있으며, 소량의 펄과 패각으로 구성되어 있다. 둘째, 연구지역에는 주로 셰일과 사암의 호층이 발달하여 층리가 발달하고, 퇴적구조인 연흔, 관입구조인 중성 암맥, 지질구조인 절리와 단층이 분포하고 있다. 또한 타포니와 같은 풍화현상이 관찰된다. 특징적으로 일부 층에서는 복족류 화석, 이매패류 화석, 스트로마톨라이트 및 생흔화석이 관찰된다. 셋째, 연구 지역에 분포하는 다양한 지형과 지질현상은 초등학교 과학 3~4학년의“지표의 변화”,“지층과 화석”,“화산과 지진”단원의 학습내용과 관련이 있다. 넷째, 이 연구에서는 초등학교 과학교과서에 제시된 '식물뿌리에 의한 풍화현상', '단층', '화석'과 관련된 사진자료를 대체하여 연구지역에서 관찰된 지질현상을 사진자료로 제시하였다. 다섯째, 연구지역은 남해고속도로 진교IC에서 남쪽으로 약 5km 떨어진 해안으로 접근성이 용이하다. 또한 약 180m 길이의 해안에 다양한 지형과 지질이 분포하고 있어 초등학생들을 위한 현장 체험학습 장소로 매우 적합한 장소이다. 연구지역을 현장 체험학습 장소로 활용하기 위한 3단계 야외학습 모형에 따른 활용 방안은 다음과 같다. 준비 단계에서는 교사가 학생들에게 학습 주제와 학습 목표, 현장 위치 등을 소개하고 지층과 화석에 대한 교수·학습을 진행한다. 야외학습단계에서 학생들은 미리 준비된 탐구활동 장소를 중심으로 교사의 지도에 따라 각 장소에서 관찰과 탐구활동을 진행한다. 체험학습 후, 정리 단계에서는 학생들이 현장에서 관찰하고 경험한 것을 바탕으로 과거 환경에 대한 추론 활동과 발표, 토의를 진행한다. 이 연구지역은 다양한 지형 및 지질현상이 분포할 뿐만 아니라 접근성과 안전성이 양호하여 초등학생들의 체험학습 코스 또는 예비초등교사와 초등교사의 연수 장소로 다양하게 이용할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the geomorphological and geological characteristics of the coast of Yangpo-ri, Jingyo-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, and to present a plan to use them as educational data in relation to elementary school science geological units. In the study area, the Mesozoic Hasandong Formation is distributed, and it is known as a area where sedimentary rocks are distributed and various kinds of fossils are produced. The results of this study are as follows.
First, the 180m-long coast from Yangpo Port to the southwest forms the coastal topography of sand and gravel beaches, wave-cut platforms, and sea cliffs. The height of the sea cliff is less than 10m, and the slope of the wave-cut platforms is very gentle, so it is within 5 degrees. The beach is mainly composed of gravel and sand, and a small amount of mud and shells.
Second, in the study area, stratification is mainly developed by the development of shale and sandstone layers, and sedimentary structures such as ripple marks, intermediate dykes, and geological structures such as joints and faults are distributed. In addition, weathering phenomena such as tafoni are observed. Characteristically, gastropoda fossils, bivalvia fossils, stromatolites, and trace fossils are observed in some layers.
Third, the various geomorphological and geological phenomena distributed in the research area are highly related to the learning contents of the "changes in the surface”, "the strata and fossils” and "the volcano and earthquakes” units of the 3rd and 4th grade of elementary school science.
Fourth, in this study, geological phenomena observed in the research area were produced and presented as photographic materials, replacing photographic data related to ‘weathering phenomena caused by plant roots’,‘fault’and‘fossil’presented in elementary school science textbooks.
Finally, the research area is easy to access as it is a coast about 5km south of Jingyo IC on the Namhae Expressway. In addition, various geomorphology and geology are distributed on the coast of about 180m long, making it a very suitable place for field trips for elementary school students. The following is a proposal for utilization according to the three-stage outdoor learning model for using the research area as a field trip place. In the preparation stage, teachers introduce students to learning topics, learning goals, and field locations, and conduct teaching & learning about strata and fossils in classrooms. In the outdoor learning stage, students conduct observation and exploration activities in each place according to the teacher's guidance, focusing on the pre-prepared exploration activity site. In the organizing stage after hands-on learning, students conduct reasoning activities, presentations, and discussions on the past environment based on what they observe and experience in the field.
This research area can be used in various ways as a field trip courses for elementary school students or a training place for prospective elementary school teachers and elementary school teachers because it not only has various geomorphological and geological phenomena but also has good accessibility and safety.
