초록

Today, folklore is the most important performance of local community festivals, and is valued as an useful element of being adapted to make a festival. But we don't have found an article that studied the method to be admitted and changed in the process of making and creating a festival.
In this situation, I will examine the method that folklore has been admitted and changed in the process of being created and being handed down by the local community. In this article, I studied Andong Mask Dance Festival which was first open in 1997, when Making-Festival spread all over the country as the vogue, and has been handed down for 11 years.
As a result of my study I found the facts as follows. The transforming methods of folklore when it was admitted in a festival are the selection, focusing and making folklores hierarchy; the distortion of text by committee's arbitrary edition; releasing the distorted text on the stage and making its spectacularity; laying folklore on the showcase; the change of producers/consumers' perception by releasing the distorted text on the stage; making its spectacularity, losing of folklore's aura; the reification of folklore as it does in the market.
These methods is the mechanism that has transformed the folklores admitted in a festival. I think that these aspects not only appear in a festival, but also in the most of local community festivals which have adapted folklore as an important element of a festival. I will verify and study deeply these aspects and matters by researching much more local community festivals.
