이성복 초기시의 서정과 서사 구조 (A study on the lyricism and narrative structure of Lee Seong-Bok’s early poetry)

초록

이 연구에서는 이성복 초기시의 특징을 서정과 서사의 구조를 중심으로 고찰해 본다.그는 첫 번째 시집에서 ‘부패에 대한 연구’라고 하는 병리학적 관점을 통해 가족과사회의 몰락상을 절망적인 시각으로 그려내고 있다.그의 시의 독창성은 부분과 전체를 제어하면서 서사적 장치를 통해 서정을 감동적이면서도 유기적으로 형상화할 수있었던 방법론에 자리 잡고 있다.
특히 각각의 시집에서 첫 번째 시와 마지막의 시는 서사에서의 발단과 결말이라고하는 핵심적인 임무를 수행하고 있고,나머지 시들은 중간에서 전개의 역할을 담당하고 있다.따라서 그의 시적 전략의 핵심은,개개 시편들의 다양한 갈등과 긴장의 양상을 통해 ‘서정성’을 극대화한 뒤에 그 갈등의 극복과 해소는 전체 시에서 고도로 조직화된 ‘서사성’을 통해 완수한다는 점에 있다.즉,세계와의 불화로 발생하는 화자의 번민은 서정을 불러일으키는 주요 요인으로 작용하고 있는데,전체 시집의 배열은 이러한 서정적 갈등을 화자의 성장기와도 같은 여러 시편의 서사적 질서를 통해 해결책을제시하는 특징을 보이고 있다.
이처럼 각 시집 내의 개별 텍스트들은 외부 세계와의 갈등을 미적으로 다양하게 형상화하고 있다.그것이 서정이다.그 불화의 양상을 해소하기 위해 시적 자아는 시적인 여정에 돌입하여 부단한 탐색과 모색을 하게 되고 인식의 전환을 통해 돌파구를마련한다.그것이 서사의 역할이다.그는 각 시집 내의 개별 시들 사이에 치밀하게 계산된 서사적 질서를 부여하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 시집들 사이에서도 그러한 체계성과 유기성을 부여하고 있다.

영어초록

This study examines the characteristics of Lee Seong-Bok’s early poetry, focusing lyricism and narrative structure. His first collection of poetry hauntingly portrays the collapse of family and society through a pathological viewpoint called a study of corruption. The originality of his poems lies in the methodology in which he is able to express lyricism in an emotional and organic way through a narrative device while controlling the part and the whole.
In particular, the first and the last poem in each of his collections of poetry fulfill the core task of beginning and ending the narrative of each of his poetry collections.
The rest of the poems play a role of developing the middle structure of the narrative.
Therefore, the core of his poetic strategy is as follows: After maximizing lyricism through various conflicts of individual poems, the overcoming and resolution conflicts is accomplished through a highly organized narrative described via the whole poetry collection. In other words, the anguish of the poetic speaker caused by his discord with the world acts as a major factor that evokes lyricism. The arrangement of the entire collection of poetry provides a solution to this lyrical conflict through the narrative order of various poems, which also describes the record of growth of the speaker.
The individual texts in each collection express the conflict with the outside world in a variety of aesthetic ways. This variety of aesthetic ways constitutes lyricism. In order to resolve the discord, the poetic speaker enters a poetic journey, constantly seeking the resolution of the conflict, and makes a breakthrough through a shift of perception. That is the role of the narrative structure in his early poetry. He not only imparts an elaborately calculated narrative order between the individual poems in each of his poetry collections, but also imparts systemicity and organicity between each of his poetry collections.
