초심 상담수련생의 교육분석 경험을 통한 변화과정: 첫 내담자 경험을 중심으로 (Analysis on the Changing Process of Novice Counseling Trainees through Educational Analysis Experience: Focusing on experience as first client)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 초심 상담수련생의 교육분석 경험에서 첫 내담자 경험은 어떠하며 어떤 변화과정을 거치는지 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 상담관련 전공자로 최근 1년 이내에 교육분석 첫 10회기를 경험한 초심 상담수련생 15명을 대상으로 심층 개별 면담을 실시하고 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)이 제시한 근거이론 접근 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 121개의 개념과 45개의 하위범주, 18개의 범주가 도출되었다. 초심 상담수련생의 교육분석 경험을 통한 중심현상은 ‘정서적 고통과 신체화’와 ‘변화 기대와 현실 불일치로 조급함’으로 나타났다. 인과적 조건으로는 ‘분석가와의 관계가 불편함’과 ‘보고 싶지 않은 내 모습과 맞닥뜨림’이었으며, ‘인간적·전문적 변화 필요’와 ‘교육분석에 대한 기대와 두려움’이 맥락적 조건으로 작용하였다. 이에 대해 ‘변화에 저항하기’, ‘분석가에게 개방하기’, ‘직면하고 견뎌내기’, ‘가족, 친구, 동료에게 토로하기’, ‘새로운 행동 시도하기’가 작용/상호작용 전략으로 나타났다. 결과는 ‘인간적·전문적 성장’, ‘지속적인 성장과 변화 필요성 인식’으로 나타났다. 연구결과는 개방코딩, 축코딩, 선택코딩 과정분석을 포함하였으며, 선택코딩에 의한 핵심범주는 ‘궁금함과 기대감으로 상담을 시작하고 정서적 고통과 신체화를 경험하며 상담을 그만두고 싶기도 했지만, 분석가의 수용과 전문적 자질, 가족, 친구, 동료의 지지, 자신의 의지로 힘든 과정을 극복하고 인간적·전문적인 성장을 함’으로 도출되었다. 중심현상과 관련된 단계는 궁금해 하는 단계, 부딪히는 단계, 겉도는 단계, 몰입하는 단계, 성장하는 단계 등 5단계로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 초심 상담수련생의 교육분석 경험을 통한 변화과정의 논의와 후속연구에 대한 제언을 하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to look at the novice counseling trainee’s experience as first client in educational analysis experience and what changing process to go through. To achieve this, this study conducted an in-depth one-on-one interview of 15 novice counseling trainees who experienced the first 10-session educational analysis as a major in counseling within the last year and the collected data were analyzed by the grounded theory approach provided by Strauss and Corbin(1998). As a result of analysis, 121 concepts, 45 subcategories, and 18 categories were drawn. The central phenomena of novice counseling trainee’s educational analysis experience included ‘emotional pain and somatization’ and ‘impatience because of expectation of change and reality mismatch.’ The causal conditions included ‘uneasy relation with educational analyst’ and ‘confrontation with true self not wanting to see’ and the contextual conditions included ‘necessity for humane and professional change’ and ‘expectation and fear of educational analysis.’ In response, ‘resisting change’, ‘self-disclosing to educational analyst’, ‘confrontation and enduring’, ‘express my feelings to my family, friends and colleagues’, and ‘attempting new behaviors’ appeared as action/interaction strategies. The results included ‘humane and professional growth’ and ‘recognition of necessity for continuous growth and change.’ The research findings included open coding, axial coding, and selective coding process analyses, and the core category by selective coding was drawn as “I began counseling with curiosity and expectation and experienced emotional pain and somatization. I sometimes wanted to stop counseling, but overcame the hard process with educational analyst’s acceptance and professional competence, family, friends and colleagues’ support, and my own will and achieved humane and professional growth.” The steps related to the central phenomena appeared in the following five steps: curiosity, conflict, resistance, cohesiveness, and growth. Based on such findings, this study provided discussion on the changing process of novice counseling trainees through educational analysis experience and suggestions for further studies.
