The spatial characteristics of f lood area was analyzed to generate a f lood risk map basedon HEC-RAS model using river cross section and flood frequency data. The geographic informationwas generated using 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 digital maps for HEC-GeoRAS stage, and then the f loodinundation simulation was performed using HEC-RAS model. The flood frequency data for 50, 100, 150,and 200 years was collected from ‘Geum river basin’s river maintenance investigated(2002)’, as hydrologicdata was required for flood inundation simulation. On the basis of simulation result, the flooding area andinundation depth were analyzed through ArcGIS mapping. Then the flooded land including study area, isclassified for further interpretation. The result of this research indicates that the flooded area is increasingfrom 50 years to 200 years, and 88% of the flooded land is appeared in the agricultural region. So, it canbe said that the agricultural part of the area is more affected by inundation than the residental part is. Inother words, the damage caused by inundation and flooding mainly occurs in agricultural areas which arelocated in lowlands.
