그림책을 활용한 문제해결중심 유아수학교육 프로그램의 효과 (Effect of a Problem-Solving-Oriented Program for Early Childhood Mathematics Using Picture Books)

초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 5세 유아를 대상으로 그림책을 활용한 문제해결중심 유아수학교육 프로그램을 적용하여 유아의 수학적 개념, 수학적 과정기술, 수학적 태도에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 것이다.
방법 이를 위해 그림책, 문제해결중심학습, 유아수학교육과 관련된 선행연구와 문헌을 수집⋅분석하여 프로그램의 목표, 교육내용, 교수학습 방법, 평가 등을 구성하고 그림책을 활용한 문제해결중심 유아수학교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 본 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위해 서울시에 소재한 D어린이집 5세 유아 22명(실험집단 10명, 비교집단 12명)을 대상으로 8주간 총 16회기에 걸쳐프로그램을 실행하였다. 검사도구를 활용하여 유아의 수학적 개념, 수학적 과정기술, 수학적 태도를 측정하고 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 Mann-Whitney U 비모수 검정을 통해 결과를 분석하였다.
결과 본 프로그램은 유아의 수학적 개념(수와 연산, 기하, 측정, 대수), 수학적 과정기술(문제해결하기, 의사소통하기, 추론하기), 수학적 태도(수학에 대한 흥미, 수학능력에 대한 자아개념, 과제에 대한 지각, 주위의 격려와 기대) 형성에 대체적으로 효과가 있는것으로 나타났다.
결론 그림책을 활용한 문제해결중심 유아수학교육 프로그램은 그림책을 통해 수학적 문제 상황 제시하고 유아들이 협력학습을 통해 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 수학적 문제에 대한 맥락적 이해를 도모함으로써 자기주도적 활동을 통해 수학적 개념을 이해하고, 사고력과 의사소통 능력을 향상시키고, 학습에 대한 긍정적인 태도와 자신감을 형성하는데 효과적이라고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to verify the effects on children's mathematical concepts, mathematical process skills, and mathematical attitudes by applying a problem-solving-oriented early childhood mathematics education program using picture books to 5-year-old children.
Methods To this end, we collected and analyzed previous research and literature related to picture books, prob lem-solving-oriented learning, and early childhood mathematics education to formulate the program's goals, ed ucational content, teaching and learning methods, and evaluation, and developed a program for problem-solv ing-oriented early childhood mathematics education using picture books. To verify the effectiveness of this pro gram, the program was implemented for a total of 16 sessions over 8 weeks for 22 5-year-old children (10 ex perimental group, 12 comparison group) from a daycare center in Seoul. The test tool was used to measure child ren's mathematical concepts, mathematical process skills, and mathematical attitudes, and the results were ana lyzed using the Mann-Whitney U nonparametric test using the SPSS 21.0 program.
Results This program was found to be generally effective in forming children's mathematical concepts (number and operations, geometry, measurement, algebra), mathematical process skills (problem solving, communica tion, reasoning), and mathematical attitudes (interest in mathematics, self-concept about mathematical ability, perception of tasks, encouragement and expectations from those around them).
Conclusions The problem-solving-oriented early childhood mathematics education program using picture books can be said to be effective in understanding mathematical concepts through self-directed activities, improving thinking and communication skills, and forming positive attitudes and confidence toward learning by presenting mathematical problem situations through picture books and promoting contextual understanding of mathematical problems in the process of solving problems through cooperative learning.
