초록

이 연구는 시각적 문해력의 계발을 위하여 문학성과 예술성을 갖춘 종합예술로서 현대 그림책의 교육적 가치에 주목하여, 현대 그림책이 창출하는 공간에 대해 이론적으로 탐색하고 현대 그림책의 공간을 해석하는 읽기탐구 유형을 개발하고자 하였다. 현대 그림책은 단순히 그림이 추가된 이야기 책이 아니라, 글과 그림의 이중서사구조에서 글과 그림의 상호작용으로 제3의 의미를 창출하는아이코노텍스트로서, 그림이 창출하는 공간에 대한 독자의 적극적인 해석이 요구되는 새로운 장르로 진화하였다. 특히 출판기술문화의 발달로 현대 그림책의 프레임이나 파라텍스트가 흥미롭고 다양하게 창작되면서, 그림 텍스트나 파라텍스트(주변텍스트)도 작가의 의도나 메시지를 전달하는 장치가 되었다. 이런 맥락에서 현대 그림책은 단순히 이야기책을 읽는 것이 아니라, 독자에게 글과그림의 빈틈을 메우며 적극적으로 그림책의 공간 의미를 해석하도록 요구하고 있다. 그래서 독자가 주도하는 읽기탐구로서 현대 그림책 읽기의 교육적 가치가 더욱 중요해졌다. 이 연구는 현대 그림책의 문학성보다는 프레임과 파라텍스트의 예술적 기능에 주목하여, 독자가 주도하는 현대 그림책 공간 해석을 위한 읽기탐구 유형을 개발하고자 하였다. 먼저, 현대 그림책이 창출하는 공간에 대한이론적 탐색을 통하여 현대 그림책의 아이코노텍스트 성격, 프레임의 의미와 기능, 파라텍스트의의미와 해석에 대하여 고찰하였다. 다음으로 선행 연구에서 추출한 현대 그림책의 공간 해석을위한 메타지식을 자원으로 하여, 그림의 서사와 공간의 해석에 초점을 두고 읽기탐구 방향을 설정한다음, 프레임 탐구, 페리텍스트 탐구, 에피텍스트 탐구 유형을 개발하였다. 또 읽기탐구의 세 유형의수업 적용을 위하여 <괴물들이 사는 나라>를 대상으로 읽기탐구 사례를 개발하여 제시하였다. 현대그림책의 읽기탐구 유형과 사례는 현대 그림책을 읽는 독자나 국어 수업에서 일정하게 읽기탐구의지침을 제공하면서 읽기탐구 수행의 표준을 제시할 것으로 기대한다.

영어초록

This study focuses on the educational value of modern picture books as a comprehensive art with literary and artistic value for the development of visual literacy, theoretically explores the space and time created by modern picture books, and develops a reading inquiry type that interprets the space of modern picture books. Modern picture books are not simply storybooks with added pictures, but are iconotexts that create a third meaning through the interaction between written text and pictures in a dual narrative structure of text and pictures, and it has evolved into a new genre that demands the reader's active interpretation of the space created by the pictures. In particular, with the development of publishing technology and culture, frames and paratexts of modern picture books have been created in interesting and diverse ways, and picture texts and paratexts (surrounding texts) have also become devices for conveying the author's intention or message. In this context, modern picture books are not simply reading storybooks, but require readers to actively interpret the spatial meaning of the picture book by filling in the gaps between text and pictures. Therefore, the educational value of reading modern picture books as a reader-led reading exploration has become more important. This study focused on the artistic functions of frames and paratexts rather than the literary nature of modern picture books, and attempted to develop a reading inquiry type for reader-led interpretation of the space of modern picture books. First, through a theoretical exploration of the space and time created by modern picture books, the iconotext nature of modern picture books, the meaning and function of frames, and the meaning and interpretation of paratexts were examined. Next, using the meta-knowledge for spatial interpretation of modern picture books extracted from previous research as a resource, the direction of reading inquiry is set with a focus on the narrative of the picture and the interpretation of space, and then the types of frame inquiry, peritext inquiry, and epitext inquiry were developed. In addition, in order to apply the three types of reading inquiry to classes, a reading inquiry case was developed and presented targeting <Where the Wild things are>. It is expected that the types and examples of reading inquiry in modern picture books will provide guidelines for reading inquiry consistently for readers of modern picture books and Korean language classes, while presenting a standard for reading inquiry performance.
