어린이집과 유치원 교사와 원장의 유보통합에 대한 인식과 요구 (Perception and demand for the integration of early childhood education and childcare of teachers and directors of daycare center and kindergarten)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 어린이집과 유치원 교사와 원장의 유보통합에 대한 인식과 요구를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구에는 광주광역시의 어린이집과 유치원에 근무하는 17명의 교사와 원장이 참여하였다. 자료는 2023년 4월 3일부터 5월 31일까지 2개월 동안 인터뷰를 통해 수집되었으며, 주제분석방법으로 분석되었다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 어린이집 교사는 유치원정교사 자격증 취득을 우려하면서 유보통합으로 근무여건이 개선되기를 기대하였다. 어린이집 원장은 원아 수 감소로 어린이집의 현상 유지가 어려움을 호소하면서 출구 전략으로 어린이집 용도 변경을 위한 대책 마련을 요구하였다. 둘째, 유치원 교사는 통합자격증으로 인한 유아교육의 질적 저하를 우려하면서 유보통합이 이루어지는 과정에 현장교사의 목소리가 반영되어야 한다고 주장하였다. 유치원 원장은 유보통합으로 부모 편의가 도모될 수 있다고 기대하면서 유아교육에 대한 교육부의 책임 강화를 요구하였다. 전반적으로 어린이집과 유치원의 교사와 원장은 유보통합을 긍정적으로 인식하고 유보통합의 과정에서 제기되는 문제의 해결을 요구하였다. 이처럼 본 연구는 유아교육현장의 목소리를 직접 전달함으로써 유보통합의 과정에서 제기되는 여러 가지 문제를 살펴보고 해결방안을 제시하는 데 그 의의가 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine perception and demand for the integration of early childhood education and childcare of teachers and directors of daycare center and kindergarten. Participants were 17 teachers and directors working in daycare centers and kindergartens in Gwangju metropolitan city. Data were collected through interviews for two months from April 3 to May 31, 2023, and analyzed using thematic analysis method. The results of this study were as follows. First, daycare center teachers were concerned about obtaining a kindergarten teacher certificate, but expected improvement in labor conditions. Daycare center directors were concerned about whether or not daycare centers would survive due to the decrease in the number of young children, and demanded preparation of countermeasures to change the usage of daycare centers as an exit strategy. Second, kindergarten teachers were concerned about the deterioration of the quality of early childhood education due to the integrated certificate, and insisted that the voice of field teachers should be reflected in the process of the integration of early childhood education and childcare. Kindergarten directors expected to promote parental convenience, and demanded strengthening Education Ministry’s responsibility for early childhood education. Overall, teachers and directors of daycare centers and kindergartens positively perceived the integration of early childhood education and childcare, and demanded the resolution of various problems raised in the process of the integration of early childhood education and childcare. Thus, by directly conveying the voice of early childhood education filed, this study is significant in examining various problems raised in the process of the integration of early childhood education and childcare and suggesting solutions.
