어린이집 유아, 부모, 교사가 함께 만드는 수학교구에 관한 실행연구 (Action research on math education materials made by young children, parents, and teachers in a daycare center)

초록

본 연구는 어린이집의 수·조작영역 수학교육의 문제점을 개선하기 위해 부모와 교사가 협력해 유아의 수학교구 만들기를 지원하는 방안을 실시하고, 연구에 참여한 유아와 부모 및 교사의 변화를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 했다. 연구참여자는 원장인 연구자와 교사 3명, 유아 21명 및 부모 21명이다. 본 연구는 2017년 3월부터 12월까지 실시했고, Mills(2005)의 나선형 모형에 따라 3차 실행 과정을 거쳤다. 1차 실행은 부모와 유아가 수학교구 만들기에 참여했고, 2차 실행은 유아가 주도적으로 수학교구를 만들도록 부모와 교사가 지원했으며, 3차 실행은 유아가 만든 수학교구를 대여하는 방안을 실시했다. 실행과정은 질적 연구방법을 사용해 자료를 수집하고 분석했다. 연구결과 유아는 교구제작자로 자율성과 주도성을 갖고 수 ‧ 조작영역에 참여해 수학능력과 자신감이 상승했다. 부모는 유아수학교육을 위한 교수‧학습방법을 이해하고 실천하게 됐다. 교사는 수학교육을 실시하는 역할을 인식하고, 수학교수효능감과 교사직무만족도가 증진됐다. 본 연구결과는 유아교육현장에 구성된 수·조작영역에서 양질의 수학교육을 실시하기 위해 교사가 유아의 흥미와 잠재적 발달수준을 생활주제보다 우선 고려하고, 가정과 수학교육에 대해 의사소통하는 것이 중요함을 시사한다.

This study implemented a collaborative plan of parents and teachers to support young children make math education materials in order to improve problems of math education in the number and manipulation area of a daycare center and examined changes in young children, parents, and teachers who participated in this study. The participants of the study were the director(researcher), three teachers, 21 children, and 21 parents. The study was conducted from March to December in 2017 and has undergone a third-round process according to the model of Mills’s (2005) dialectical spiral-based study. The parents and children participated in making math education materials in the first cycle of the action research, parents and teachers supported children to make math education materials in the second cycle of the research, and a plan to rent the math education materials made by the children was implemented in the third cycle of the research. In all process, qualitative research methods were used to collect and analyze the data. As a result, the children who have made math education materials actively participated in the math and manipulation area with autonomy and initiative and their competence in math and confidence were increased. The parents understood teaching and learning methods for early childhood math education and practiced them at home. The teachers recognized their role of implementing early childhood math education, and their level of efficacy in teaching math and teacher job satisfaction was increased. The results of the study imply the importance of considering children’s interests and potential developmental level and communicating with parents about math education in order to provide high-quality math education in math and manipulation area.
