디자인 창업의 핵심역량 개발을 위한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study of Core Competency Development for Design Entrepreneurship)

초록

스마트 디지털 시대에 접어들어 고객의 세분화된 욕구를 만족시키는 창업에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 디자인을중심으로 한 창업 기업들이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 다양한 이유로 많은 기업들이 회사 운영에 어려움과 실패를경험하고 있다. 이에 많은 연구자들이 디자인 창업의 체계성 확립과 핵심역량의 규명을 주장하였으나, 국내에서는 국내환경에 맞는 디자인 창업의 핵심역량은 개발되어 있지 않으며, 필요시엔 비슷한 다른 영역의 핵심역량을차용해야 하는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 질적 연구 방법을 사용하여 디자인 창업의 핵심역량을 도출함으로써 관련분야에서 보다 더 체계적이고 실증적인 기반을 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 이에 디자인 창업자의 개별 심층 인터뷰와 디자인 창업자 인터뷰 기사 분석을 통하여 디자인 창업의 핵심역량을 도출하였으며, MaxQDA 12를 사용하여 인터뷰를 통해 녹취된 내용을 전사하여 반복적으로 비교분석하며 정리하였다. 이후 내용타당도 검증을 위하여, 4인의 전문가와 함께 핵심역량 및 역량에 대한 범주화 결과와 조작적 정의가 적합한지를 검증하였다. 그 결과 디자인 창업의 핵심역량은 디자인 역량(창의적 아이디어 발상, 디자인 기술, 시장조사), 네트워크구축 역량(협력업체 관리, 고객관리, 인사관리), 자금조달 역량(자금지원 활용, 프레젠테이션), 기업가정신 역량(비즈니스 모델 구축, 리더십, 문제해결, 자기개발), 자산관리 역량(브랜드 가치, 자금운용, 세무회계)으로 5개의핵심역량과 15개의 하위역량이 도출되었다. 이러한 연구는 국내 디자인 창업의 특성을 이해하고, 관련된 연구를 수행하는데 활용 될 수 있을 것이며, 특히 우리나라 디자인 창업 실정에 맞는 디자인 창업 핵심역량 척도개발을 위한 토대자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

As the interest in entrepreneurship that meets the customer's specific needs started to rise in thedigital era, so did the increase in entrepreneurs that focused on design. However, manycorporations experience difficulties and setbacks in company management for various reasons.
Consequently, many researchers have argued for the systematic organization of designentrepreneurs and an examination of its core competencies, but a framework of corecompetencies fit for the domestic environment has yet to be developed, warranting the use ofcore competences from similar fields whenever necessary. Hence, this research used qualitativeresearch methods to deduct the core competencies of design entrepreneurship, with the purposeof creating a more systematic and empirical foundation than those of related fields. The studyderived the core competencies of design entrepreneurship through individual in-depth interviewswith design entrepreneurs and the analysis of such interviews, and MaxQDA 12 was used totranscribe the interview recordings and repeatedly compare and analyze its contents. Then, toensure content validity, four experts judged the strength of the findings on scale developmentand the suitability of operational definitions regarding core competencies and othercompetencies. As a result, the 5 core competencies and 15 sub-competencies proved to bedesign competency(development of creative ideas, design technology, market research), networkconstruction competency(partner management, customer management, personnel management),funding competency(utilization of funds, presentations), entrepreneurial competency (businessmodel building, leadership, problem solving, self-development), and asset managementcompetency(brand value, fund management and tax accounting). This research can be used tounderstand the nature of design startups in Korea and facilitate related research. Furthermore, itcan serve as foundational data for the scale development of core competencies suitable for thedomestic design entrepreneurship environment.
