정규직과 비정규직의 생활만족도 패널분석 - 잠재성장모형을 중심으로 (A Panel Analysis of the Life Satisfaction of Standard and Non-standard Workers: Focusing on Latent Growth Model)

초록

본 연구는 한국복지패널데이터(2008년~2012년)를 병합하여 정규직과 비정규직의 생활만족도를 실증분석 하였다. 첫째, 지난 5년 동안의 생활만족도 차이 및 추이를 분석한 결과, 모든 연도에서 정규직이 비정규직에 비해 생활만족도가 유의미하게 높은 것으로 분석되었으며, 그 격차는 경기침체기(2008년~2009년)에 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 패널회귀분석을 통해 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 변수들을 통제한 상태에서도 정규직의 생활만족도가 비정규직에 비해 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 고용안정 변수는 비정규직에서만 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 비정규직이라는 고용형태 자체가 임금과 근로조건뿐만 아니라 생활만족도에 대해서도 부정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 시사한다.
셋째, 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Model)을 사용하여 정규직과 비정규직의 생활만족도 변화율을 추정한 결과, 정규직의 생활만족도가 비정규직에 비해 유의미하게 높고, 그러한 격차는 지난 5년 동안 큰 변화 없이 그대로 유지되고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
따라서 경제침체기에는 상대적으로 임금과 근로조건이 열악하고 외부충격에 취약한 비정규직에 대한 지원을 강화할 필요가 있으며, 비정규직의 생활만족도를 높이기 위해서는 고용안정성을 높일 필요가 있다. 또한 비정규직이라는 고용형태 자체가 생활만족도에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 만큼, 궁극적으로는 임금과 근로조건의 차별해소와 더불어 상시적 업무에 종사하는 비정규직의 정규직화를 추진할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This study empirically analyzed the life satisfaction of standard and non-standard workers by integrating the Korea Welfare Panel data (2008~2012). First, as a result of the analysis of the difference and trends during the past five years, the life satisfaction of standard workers was analyzed to be significantly higher as compared to that of non-standard workers each year, and the gap was found to be the greatest during the period of economic recession(2008~2009).
Second, the life satisfaction of standard workers was found to be higher as compared to that of non-standard workers even in the state that the variables affecting life satisfaction are controlled through the panel regression analysis, and especially, the employment stability variables were found to have a significant impact on non-standard workers only. This means that the employment type of non-standard workers itself have a negative impact on life satisfaction as well as wages and working conditions, and suggests that the employment instability of non-standard workers is severe as compared to that of standard workers.
Third, as a result of the estimation for the change rate of standard workers and non-standard workers using a latent growth model, the life satisfaction of standard workers was significantly higher than that of non-standard workers, and this gap was found to be maintained for the past five years without a big change.
Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the support for non-standard workers who are under relatively poor wage and working conditions and are vulnerable to external shocks, and to increase the employment stability to increase the life satisfaction of non-standard workers. In addition, as the employment type of non-standard workers itself has a negative impact on life satisfaction, there is a need to promote the shift from non-standard workers to standard workers as well as ultimately eliminating the discrimination over wages and working conditions ultimately.
