홀리즘에 대한 교육철학적 성찰 (On the Holism from the viewpoint of the educational philosophy)

초록

이 논문은 Postmodernism 이후에 인문학계의 관심을 집중시키고 있는 ‘새로운’ 사유인 Holisim에 대한 교육철학적 성찰이다. 고전고대에서 현대에 이르기까지 플라톤, 코메니우스, 루소 같은 위대한 교육사상가들에게서 우리는 holistic 사유와 만난다. 이는 다음과 같은 사실을 말해준다. 교육에 대한 합리적이고 철저한 인식관심이 holistic한 인식에 이르게 하였다. 그러나 근대의 교육과학의 전개는 교육을 전체적으로 보는 논리가 아니라, 부분적으로 보는 논리들을 다양하게 발전시켰다. 그리하여 현대의 교육과 교육학은 인간과 국가를 교육의 관점 아래서 전체적으로 인식하는 사유능력을 상실하였다. 그 결과로 학교교육은 점점 더 패리되어갔다. Holism은 이에 대한 현대적 대안이 될 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 Holism을 희망의 언어로, 그리스적 철학과 희브리적 지혜를 조화롭게 연관시킨 철학으로, 교육의 이론과 실천을 holistic하게 가꾸어주는 메타이론으로 성찰하였다.

영어초록

This essay is a reflection on the holism from the viewpoint of the educational philosophy. Holism is a 'new' way of thinking. Not a few scholars in the field of the humanities has shown a great interest in the holism after the interest in postmodernism disappeared.
We could meet with holistic thinking by the great thinkers of education such as Plato, Comenius, Rousseau from the classical ancient times to the modern times. This shows us the following things. A reasonable and thorough epistemological interest in education opens the way to the holistic understanding. They have never been arrested to a fixed logic and they have always kept open-mindedness with exceptions that might have been considered as irrational. But the development of modern sciences in education has formulated not a holistic logic of understanding, but many kinds of disintegrated logics, which could only grasp partial phenomena in themselves not as a whole. In other words, pedagogy has grown logics that recognize just segment, not as segment but as if it was a whole.
Therefore, modern education and pedagogy lost the ability to recognize education as a whole. And education became irrational and twisted gradually. Holism let awake eyes to see special as special in relation to the whole. Just here, holism displays its function. I speculate about the meaning of holism in the following three points. Holism is a language of hope where the methodological singularism and partial knowledge dominate whole theories and practices. Holism is a philosophy that correlates the hebrew wisdom and the greek philosophy harmoniously. Holism is a meta-theory that cultivates research, theory and practice in education in a holistic way.
