초록

글로벌스터디즈(GS)는 최근 들어서 연구영역의 차원을 넘어 전문화되고 있으며, 대학원의 연구과정 설립을 통해 제도화되면서 그 학제적인 위상을 구축하고 있다. 하지만 그 과정에서 드러난 GS의 간학문적 특성은 상대적으로 그것의 개념화를 위한 합의점 도출을 어렵게 만들고 있다. 따라서 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 특정 학문영역을 통하여 시도적인 어프로치를 행할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 GS의 개념화를 모색한 선행연구에 이은 후속 작업이다. 그 목적은 GS에서 하나의 중심축을 구성할 수 있는 역사학, 특히 세계사영역과의 접속 방법을 모색해보고 구체적인 사례연구를 들어서 접근하려는 것이다. 이를 위해 우선적으로 고려한 사항은 GS가 신생 학문/연구 분야로서 의식적으로 국제관계로부터 별개의 학문적 정체성을 지향하고 있다는 전제였다. 국제관계가 GS와 새로운 세계사, 특히 글로벌히스토리(Global History)와 어떻게 상호접속 될 수 있는지, 그리고 그것은 어떻게 새로이 구성되고 실체화되고 있는지를 러일전쟁연구(the Russo-Japanese War Studies)의 사례를 통해 제시해 보았다.

Recently, Global Studies(GS) has become specialized over the dimensions of the study area. At the same time, it has been institutionalized through the establishment of a graduate studies course. Through the above process, Gobal Studies was building the interdisciplinary phase. But the academic characteristics of the GS revealed in those processes, such as specialization and institutionalization is relatively difficult to create consensus derived from the conceptualization of the GS. Therefore, it is necessary to attempt potential methodology to solve this problem by adapting a specific study fields such as global history and historical sociology, etc.
This study can be called a follow-up studies, that is in the next studies based on the previous studies had been exploring the conceptualization of the GS. The aim is to explore the ways for connecting GS with new world history or global history ,that turned to be the core of history today. And Just try and would have sought those cases. This was primarily to consider the following. GS is a new academic/ research sectors, and It is that consciously try to acquire a separate academic identity from the field of international relations. In particular, it examined whether the GS, international relations and global history can be interconnected to each other, And how to explore whether newly constructed and materialized. As part of such efforts, the Russo-Japanese War studies presented the case study.
In short, Global historical approach is available to research and interconnecting Global Studies. Recent examples of spatial and temporal approaches on the Russo-Japanese War Studies was connected the Russo-Japanese War with the First World War. Such examples are encouraging in that it will expand the horizons of the existing studies of international relations and global studies.
