중산국(中山國) 고찰 (A Study of the Jungshan Kingdom)

초록

중산국은 선우의 후신이다. 그런 이유는 사서(史書)의 기록에서 그들에게 붙여진 명칭을 살펴보면 이를 알 수 있기 때문이다. 즉 춘추 초기에는 백적·선우로, 춘추 후기에는 선우·중산으로 혼용되다가 전국시대에는 중산(中山)으로 불렀는데, 중산은 선우가 이동하여 도읍한 중인성(中人城) 안에 산(山)이 있었던 연유로 그 명칭이 되었다고 한다. 선우는 사서의 기록으로 좌구명의 『좌전』에 처음 나타난다. 이 시기가춘추 초기인 서기전 774년이다. 이후, 서기전 296년 조나라에 의해 중산국이망할 때까지 근 500년을 지탱해 왔고, 전국시대의 한때는 전국8웅으로 거명될 만큼 강한 국세를 떨치기도 했다. 이러함에도 사적(史籍)의 기록은 『좌전』, 『국어』, 『전국책』, 『사기』 등에서 단편적으로 도막도막 기록되어 나라라는 존재조차 미미한 상황인지라 학자들의 관심 밖이었다. 따라서이에 관한 연구가 미진한 상태였고, 그 연구마저도 추정에 의존하였는데 비합리적인 경향이 많았다.
그러나 1970년대 석가장 일대의 유적유물이 발굴됨으로써 중산국의 실체를 확인되자, 학자들 간에 관심이 높아져 그 이후 여러 각도에서 연구가 이루어졌다. 본고(本攷)도 단편적인 사서의 기록, 유물의 명문(銘文), 그간의 연구물에 바탕을 두고, 중산국의 형성 배경과 민족의 실체, 선우·중산국의 위치, 중산국의 흥망사, 그리고 멸망 이후의 중산에 이르기까지 보편성과 합리적서술로 중산국의 실체에 좀 더 다가가서 이해하고자 했다. 본고(本攷)의 내용을 요약해서 서술해 보면 다음과 같다.
첫째 ‘그들이 누구인가?’를 알아내는 것이다. 이에 관해 주나라의 후예라는 설을 부정하지만, 백적설을 주장한 양옥승의 말에 공감하여 이를 따랐다. 화이(華夷)의 실체에 관해서는 이를 규명한 한가람역사문화연구소 사기연구실의 ‘오제 및 하은주 시조 계보도’를 실어 이해를 도왔다.
둘째, ‘어디에서 살았느냐?’이다. 필자는 지금의 섬서성과 산서성 북쪽인 내몽고 지방에서 백적(白狄)이 세력을 구축하고, 지금의 삭주시와 안문관을 넘어 산서(山西)와 하북(河北)의 보정(保定)시 일대로 진입하였고, 이동 시기를 서기전 774년 이전으로 보았다.
셋째, 중산국의 ‘흥망사’이다. 중산문공부터 마지막 군주 상(尙)이 조나라 무령왕에게 정복당할 때까지로 무공이 고(顧)에 정착하고 나서 부침(浮沈) 의 곡절(曲折)이 연속되었지만, 한때는 왕의 칭호를 획득할 만큼 국세가 강성할 때도 있었음을 살폈다.
넷째, 중산국 멸망 이후, 중산의 지명에 관하여 통일 진나라부터 당대(唐代)까지 지명변천사 를 적었다. 중산이라는 지명은 항산, 또는 상산이라는 행정단위의 지명으로 유지하면서 그 시대마다 중산이라는 명칭도 항간에서 병용되고 있었다.

영어초록

Jungshan Kingdom is Sun-woo's successor. The reason for this is that you can see this by looking at the names given to them in the records of historical books. In other words, it was mixed with Baekjeok and Seonwoo in the early days of Chunchu, and Seonwoo and Jungsan in the late Chunchu, and Jungshan was called Jungshan in the Jeonguk Dynasty, and it is said that Jungshan was named because there was a mountain in Junginseong Fortress where Seonwoo moved to the capital.
Seonwoo and Jungshan first appear in Jwagumyeong's "Jwajeon" in the librarian's record. This period corresponds to the beginning of Choonchoo in 774 BC. It continued for nearly 500 years until the fall of the Jungshan Kingdom by the Zhao Dynasty in 296 BC. And in the Warring States Period, Jungshan had strong national taxes enough to be called Jeongook8ung in an era. Nevertheless, historical records such as "Jwajeon", "Gookeo" and "Jeonrookchaek", "Sagee" were recorded in fragments, Therefore, research on this was insufficient, and even the research relied on estimation, but there were many irrational tendencies.
However, in the 1970s, the excavation of relics in Seokgajang area allowed us to confirm the reality of Jungshan Kingdom, and scholars' interest increased, and since then, research has been conducted from various angles. The paper also described the background of the formation of Seonwoo and Jungshan Kingdom, the reality of the people, the location of Junghsan Kingdom, the rise and fall of Jungshan Kingdom, and until the Jungshan after the fall, I tried to approach and understand the reality of the middle mountain country with universality and rational description. A summary of the contents of this paper is as follows.
The first is to find out who they are. In this regard, Yang Ok-seung, who denied the theory of being a descendant of the Zhou Dynasty, but insisted on the theory of Baekjeok, agreed and followed it. Regarding the reality of Hanjok and Dongijok, it helped to understand by publishing "Oje and Ha, Eun, Ju's Sijo Genealogy" by the Sagi Research Institute of the Hangaram Historical and Cultural Institute, which identified this.
Second, where did you live? It is believed that Baekjeok established power in the current Seomseo and Naemongo areas north of Sanseo and entered the Sanseo and Habuk areas beyond the current Sakju and Anmungwan, and the period of movement was before 774 BC.
Third, it is 'the varied fortunes of races.' of Jungshan Kingdom. From the study of Jungshanmungong to the time when the last monarch 'Sang' was conquered by King Muryeong of the Zhao Dynasty, Mugong settled in Go, and the twists and turns of Buchim continued, but at one time, the national tax was strong enough to win the title of the king.
Fourth, after the fall of the Jungshan Kingdom, we looked at the path of the name Jungshan from the Qin Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty. The name Jungshan was maintained as an administrative unit of Hangsan or Sangshan, but the name Jungshan was generally used.
