죽음준비교육 프로그램 설계와 개발을 위한 체계적 문헌고찰 (A Systematic Literature Review of the Design and Development of Death Education Programs)

초록

본 연구는 죽음준비교육 프로그램의 설계 및 개발과 관련된 연구 동향과 특징을 분석하고, 프로그램 개발을 위한 시사점을 도출하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 2001년부터 2024년까지 발표된 국내 죽음준비교육 프로그램 연구 94편을 대상으로 체계적 문헌고찰을 수행하였다. 연구 동향 분석 결과, 죽음준비교육은 초기에는 노인을 대상으로 한 연구를 중심으로 수행되었으나 이후 대학생, 청소년, 성인 등으로 대상이 확대되었다. 연구 목적은 주로 프로그램 효과 분석 및 교육 요구 분석에 초점이 맞춰졌으며, 상대적으로 설계･개발 연구는 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 죽음준비교육 프로그램의 설계는 주로 Corr(1995)의 인지적, 정서적, 행동적 영역 분류를 이론적 기반으로 활용하였으며, 교육방법 측면에서는 대부분 혼합형 교육 형태로 강의, 체험활동, 토의가 결합된 방식이 사용되었다. 프로그램 운영은 주 1회 시행과 같은 주기적 시행이 일반적이었다. 프로그램의 효과성 측정 변인으로는 죽음불안, 죽음에 대한 인식, 삶의 의미, 죽음에 대한 태도 등이 활용되었으며, 보고된 연구들에서는 죽음준비교육이 참여자들의 심리적 안정과 삶의 질 향상에 기여하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 성과에도 불구하고, 죽음준비교육 프로그램 설계의 체계성과 다양성을 강화하기 위한 설계･개발 연구방법론의 적용 필요성을 확인하였다. 또한, 비대면 환경에서 효과적으로 운영될 수 있는 온라인 기반 프로그램 설계, 강사 양성과 역량 강화를 위한 교육과정 마련, 죽음준비 관련 사회적 인식의 전환, 교육에서 사용하는 영상 자료의 효과 검증 등 향후 연구 방향을 제시하였다.

영어초록

This study aims to analyze the research trends and characteristics related to the design and development of death education programs and to derive implications for program development. To achieve this, a systematic literature review was conducted on 94 domestic studies on death education programs published between 2001 and 2024. The analysis of research trends revealed that early studies primarily focused on older adults, but over time, the target audience expanded to include university students, adolescents, and adults. The primary research objectives were centered on program effectiveness analysis and educational needs assessment, while studies on program design and development were relatively scarce. The design of death education programs was primarily based on Corr’s(1995) classification of cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. In terms of instructional methods, most programs employed a blended approach, combining lectures, hands–on activities, and discussions. Program implementation typically followed a periodic schedule, such as weekly sessions. Key variables used to measure program effectiveness included death anxiety, perceptions of death, meaning in life, and attitudes toward death. The reviewed studies indicated that death education contributed to participants' psychological stability and improved quality of life. Despite these positive outcomes, the study identified the need to enhance the systematicity and diversity of design and development methodologies for death education programs. Future research directions include the application of design and development research methodologies, the design of online–based programs for effective operation in digital learning environments, the establishment of training programs to enhance instructor competencies, the transformation of social perceptions related to death preparation, and empirical validation of the effectiveness of video materials used in education.
