학업을 통한 결혼이주여성의 자기성장과정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Marriage Immigrant Women's Self-growth through Academic Experience)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국에서 대학교 학업경험을 가진 결혼이주여성들을 통하여 자기성장의 의미를 탐색하고, 다문화사회에서 교육을 통한 사회적 포용의 중요성을 강조하는 것이다. 연구는 한국방송통신대학교에 재학 중인 결혼이주여성8명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 진행하고, 결혼이주여성의 자기성장과정을 근거이론의 패러다임과정에 따라 중심현상, 인과적조건, 맥락적조건, 중재적조건, 상호작용과정, 결과로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 중심현상은 결혼이주여성들이학업을 선택하고 한국방송통신대학을 재학하는 것이다. 이들이 대학을 진학하는 인과적 조건은 한국사회에 적응하고자녀를 좀 더 잘 교육시키고 싶어 선택하였다. 또한 이들을 학업으로 이끈 맥락적 조건은 한국사회에서는 대학에진학하는 것이 안정적인 삶을 이끌 수 있을 것이라고 인식하였다. 중재적 조건은 결혼이주여성들은 대학교에서 학업을수행하기 위해 다양한 어려움이 있었지만 남편과 가족의 지지와 다문화센터 선생님의 도움으로 극복하였다. 상호작용은학업을 끝마치기 위해 선배들과 스터디를 하거나 자신을 이해하고 수용하는 전략을 통하여 자기성장을 이루고자하였다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 나타난 결과는 지식이 확장되기도 하고 자녀와 남편에게 인정받게 되면서 안정적인가정생활을 유지하게 되었다. 이러한 성장은 자신의 꿈을 향해 한발자국 다가가 안정적인 직업을 모색하기도 하고새로운 도전을 하는 계기가 되었다. 이처럼 교육적인 측면에서 소수자의 사회적 포용은 개인의 자기성장을 이루고나아가 사회통합으로 귀결된다. 그러므로 모든 구성원이 더불어 살아갈 수 있도록 시민성과 공동체성 향상을 위한교육의 사회적 포용이 선행되어야 할 것이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of self-growth of marriage immigrant women who have academic experience on the university in Korea and to emphasize the importance of social inclusion through education in the multicultural society.
Through this, this study will emphasize the importance of self-growth of not only marriage immigrant women but also the minorities. The study conducted an in-depth interview with eight marriage immigrant women at the Korea National Open University and analyzed the process of self-growth of marriage immigrant women according to the paradigm of grounded theory, that is, central phenomenon, casual condition, contextual condition, intervening condition, interaction, and result. The central phenomenon of the self-growth process of marriage immigrant women is that marriage immigrant women choose to study and attend the Korea National Open University. Casual condition is that they enter the University is that they want to adapt to society in Korea or to select their child's education. Contextual condition is their thought that the entrance to the university could lead a stable life in Korean society that values academic background.
Intervening condition is that they overcame them with active support from their husbands and families and with the help of a multicultural center teacher in the community, although they had various difficulties in carrying out university studies in Korea. Interaction is that they achieved self-growth by studying with their school seniors to complete their studies or by understanding and accepting themselves.
Self-growth, which has emerged through this process, has achieved psychological stability and increased self-esteem, as their knowledge has expanded and they were recognized by husband and family.
This growth has led to new challenges by stepping up to their dreams and finding a stable job. These results show that social inclusion through education plays an important role in the development of multicultural society. On the educational side, social inclusion of minorities leads to self-growth of individuals and further social integration. Therefore, social inclusion of education should be made to promote citizenship and community spirit so that all members of society can live without being excluded.
