초록

1937년 고려인들은 자신들의 터전인 러시아 극동· 연해주에서 중앙아시아로 강제 이주 당하였다. 강제 이주 과정은 참혹했으며, 이주 지역은 황폐한 땅이었다. 그러나 그들은 자신들이 처한 어려움에도 절망하지 않고 근면성과 학구열을 바탕으로 놀라운 적응력을 보여주었다.
강제 이주는 고려인들이 가지고 있던 ‘한국인’이라는 정체성을 강하게 뒤흔들어 놓았다. 그리고 이 강제 이주는 한 일정한 기간에 이루어진 사건으로만 끝난 것이 아니라, 지속적으로 고려인들의 정체성에 영향을 준 요인이 되었다.
강제 이주는 단일한 원인이 아닌, 복합적 원인에 의해서 진행되었고, 그 원인들에 따라서 국가 정책이 각각 다르게 시행되었다. 정치적․정책적 원인에 따라 당시 고려인 지도층은 스파이라는 죄목으로 처형당했으며, 이후 이주 정착 과정에서도 뛰어난 능력과 재능을 가졌음에도 불구하고 스파이의 후예라는 연좌제와 소수 민족이라는 민족적 한계성 때문에 최고위급 직급을 부여받지는 못하였다. 그러나 경제적 원인을 통해서 고려인들은 그들이 가지고 있던 근면성과 농업 기술력이 필요한 중앙아시아로 이주되었고, 그곳에서 거둔 농업적 성공은 그들을 중앙아시아 토착민보다 더 나은 대우를 받을 수 있는 정치적․경제적 위치로 올려놓았다.
강제 이주는 고려인의 민족 정체성에 가장 큰 영향을 준 사건임에 틀림없다. 고려인들의 민족 정체성을 연구함에 있어서 1937년 강제 이주 사건을 정확하게 바라봐야 하는 이유가 여기에 있다. 러시아와의 외교 관계가 수립 되면서, 이제는 고려인들과의 접촉이 빈번하게 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 공산주의 70여 년간 단절된 양 국가 간의 정치․경제 그리고 문화적 환경은 한국인과 고려인 사이에 뚜렷한 경계를 만들었다. 이러한 경계들은 서로 간에 오해를 초래하고 있으며, 한 핏줄 임에도 불구하고, 타민족보다도 더 서로를 불신하는 경우도 발생시키고 있다. 이러한 불신을 깨트리기 위해서는 가장 먼저 서로를 이해하는 작업이 선행되어야 한다.
본 연구는 고려인들의 민족 정체성을 연구하는 과정 속에서, 고려인 강제 이주 사건을 기능주의 시각으로 바라보는 국가와 민족 그리고 정체성에 대한 아시아적 예로 제시하고자 씌어졌다. 또한 흩어져 있던 강제 이주 원인들을 종합하여 각각의 원인들이 가지고 있는 특성들을 다각적 시각 아래에서 분석 하고자 하는 토대를 위해 씌어졌다. 미력하나마 이러한 노력을 통해서 보다 바르게 고려인들을 이해하는데 도움이 되고자 한다. 앞으로 각 원인들 간의 보다 심도 있는 비교 연구를 통해서 상호 연관성을 탐구하여, 국가 정책이 고려인들의 민족 정체성에 어떻게 작용되었는지, 그리고 더 나아가서 그러한 국가 정책은 고려인 개개인에게 어떠한 영향과 결과를 주었는지 연구 하고자 하며, 이는 앞으로 후속 연구의 몫으로 남기고자 한다.

영어초록

It's been 73 years since the Korean Diaspora of Russia·CIS were forced to move to Middle Asia. In September, 1937, almost 170,000 of them were abruptly forced to leave behind the lands they've been living. After being forced to move into Middle Asia by the Soviet Union, they had no freedom to emigrate to any other places until a law named, "About measurements of restrictions on the legal status of residence of special emigrants", that gives the minimal right for them to emigrate, has been announced in 1956 by the supreme council of the Soviet Union.
To the Korean Diaspora of Russia·CIS, this forced migration(deportation) took away everything they had until the very moment. Also it was a desperation for them since they couldn't expect any help and they had to start a new life right in the middle of a wilderness. All these desperate circumstances wobbled their identity as Korean race. The deportation of the Korean Diaspora of Russia·CIS gave an big impact on change of their identities. It was also an big incident to deport an entire race that reaches 170,000 people. It's not appropriate to think that this kind of big incidence happened only by couple of reasons. Rather, it would be right to think that there were so many reasons like political, social, cultural, economical, and several other reasons come together. These kind of various reasons have keep being influencing their politics, guidelines, and their identities even after the deportation. Nevertheless in-depth study of the reasons weren't enough. The primary goal of this paper is to find and analyze the reasons of the deportation, and it would be an basis of studying the racial identity of them which would be the ultimate goal.
Recently Russia is revealing some of the informations about the history of Soviet Union that was kept secret, showing that Russia is different from the Soviet Union and is a capitalistic and democratic country. That is, in order to free themselves from Soviet Union Russia is revealing the faults and shameful history of the Soviet Union. On this basis they're revealing some of the documents about the deportation of Korean Diaspora of Russia·CIS, and this is giving clues to find out the reasons of the deportation. In addition, easier contact with the Koreans dwelling in Russia and those people living in Korea made it possible for us to find out the reasons that were hidden deep inside.
After the collapse of Soviet Union in 1991 and establishment of diplomatic relations with Russia in 1992, contacts with Korean Diaspora of Russia·CIS have become much more frequent. 70 years of alienation of political, economical, and cultural circumstances, however, made distinct boundaries between them and Koreans. These boundaries caused misunderstanding, making them to distrust Koreans, even though they are the same races. Understanding each others must be preceded in order to eliminate their distrust.
The research analyzes the possible reasons of the deportation for the basis of a better comprehension of these people.
