일본 古典籍 소장기관의 자료 디지털화 현황과 시사점 (Status of Digitalization of Data Available in Institutions with Archival Holdings of Classic Publications in Japan)

초록

이 글은 일본의 대표적인 고전적 소장기관의 자료 디저털화 현황을 소개하고, 그로부터 얻을 수 있는 시사점에 대하 고찰한 것이다. 구체적으로는 국립국회도서관, 국문학연구자료관, 국립공문서관, 와세다대학 도서관을 대상으로 하여, 각 기관이 수행하고 있는 자료 디지털화의 사례를 개관하고, 소장 디지털 자료의 구체적인 활용 방법을 안내하였다.
일본의 디지털 정보 환경에서 가장 주목되는 변화는 ‘국립국회도서관 디지털 컬렉션’(이하, ‘데지코레’=digi-core)의 출범이다. ‘데지코레’란, 국립국회도서관에서 수집․보존하고 있는 디지털 자료를 검색․열람할 수 있는 서비스를 말한다. ‘데지코레’에서는 약10만점의 ‘고전적 자료(귀중서 등)’가 서비스되고 있으며, 그 가운데 약8만 점은 인터넷에서 전문(全文)이 화상 데이터로 제공되고 있다. ‘도서’ 가운데[에는 ‘고전적 자료(귀중서 등)’와 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있는 자료가 적지 않아서 고전적을 대상으로 하는 연구에 큰 도움을 주리라 생각된다.
국문학연구자료관의 ‘新일본 고전적 총합 데이터베이스’와 국립공문서관의 ‘디지털 아카이브’는 양 기관이 장기간 축적한 서지와 국내외의 다양한 기관이 소장하는 고전적(에도시대 이전의 서적)의 디지털 화상을 수록하고 있어 매우 유용하다. 와세다대학 도서관의 ‘고전적 총합 데이터베이스’는 이 도서관이 소장하고 있는 고전적에 대해 서지 정보와 관련 연구자료, 나아가 전문(全文) 화상 데이터베이스를 널리 일반에 공개하고자 구축한 것이다. 웹상에서 테마별로 자료를 열람할 수 있도록 서비스를 제공하는 것이 특징이다.
이상과 같은 일본의 디지털 자료 구축현황을 참고할 때, 한국 학계도 ‘공동의 메타데이터’ 구축에 대해 진지하게 고민해야 하는 단계에 와있다고 생각된다. ‘국립국회도서관 인문 링크집’을 모델로 하는 ‘디지털 자료 목록집․해제집’의 작성이 하나의 방법이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This article introduces the status of digitalization for data available in representative institutions with archival holdings of classic publications in Japan and contemplate on indications to be gained thereof. In details, the subjects are National Diet Library, National Archives of Japan, National Institute of Japanese Literature, and Waseda University Library and the cases of data digitalization carried out by each institution are accessed and the detailed facilitation method of the digital data that they have has been provided.
The change that had the most attention in the digital information environment of Japan is the launching of ‘Digital Collection of the National Diet Library’ (hereinafter, ‘digi-core"). ‘digi-core’ means the service to search and access the digital data collected and kept in the National Diet Library. For the digitalization method, there are two core points: main text information and index information. The main text of data is digitalized in image data while the index information is prepared in the text data to enhance the efficiency of search for its characteristics. In ‘digi-core’, approximately 100,000 pieces of ‘Classic Publication Data (precious document and etc)’ serviced, and 80,000 pieces of them are provided in full text as the image data on the internet. From ‘publication’, there are a significant number of data that has the synergy effect with the ‘Classic Publication Data (precious document and etc)’ that it would be considered to render a great help in studying on the Classic Publication.
Under this study, basic important matters in the ‘digi-core’ data search are summarized, and further, it introduces the detailed method to facilitate ‘digi-core’ in relation to the ancient history of Japan. Thereafter, it also mentions on facilitating the Collection of Liberal Art Links on Research Navi in National Diet Library’ that is managed separately from ‘digi-core’.
The ‘Digital archive’ of the National Archives of Japan and the ‘DB of Pre-modern Japanese Works’ of the National Institute of Japanese Literature are very useful for having the digital images of the Classic Publication (books prior to the Edo Era) that are held by various institutions at home and abroad along with the bibliography accumulated for a long-time by both institutions. The ‘DB on Japanese and Chinese classics’ of Waseda University Library has been structured to provide access to the Classic Publication held by this Library along with the bibliography information, pertinent research data, as well as the full-tect image database to the general public. It has distinct feature in providing the service to have the access to the data for each theme on the web.
In reference to the status of structuring the digital data of Japan as above. the Korean academic circle is at the phase of seriously considering to structure the ‘Joint Meta-Data’. It may be a way to prepare the ‘Collection of Lists and Explanatory of Digital Data’ with the ‘Collection of Liberal Art Links in National Diet Library’ as its model.
