하계유니버시아드 태권도 품새경기의 문제점과 개선방안 (A Study on Problems and Improvement Measures of Taekwondo Poomsae Competitions in Summer Universiade)

초록

The purposes of this study were to identify problems with the Taekwondo Poomsae competitions in previous instalments of Summer Universiade and propose improvement measures to solve them. For those purposes, the investigator conducted an in-depth interview with the Poomsae players that represented South Korea in the 25th, 26th, and 28th Summer Universiade and collected their opinions about the problems and improvement measures of Taekwondo Poomsae competitions. The findings led to the following conclusions: first, as for the problems and improvement measures related to training, there should be enough room in the appointment of professional Poomsae instructors and the selection of players to represent the nation so that they can have enough training for group and pair competitions. The interested persons of Taekwondo need to improve their complacent attitude toward the performance of Poomsae players to represent the nation in international competitions. Secondly, as for the problems and improvement measures related to the game formats, the stage facilities of a stadium should not hinder the performance of Poomsae players; the cutoff method should be combined with the tournament one; and the stadium mats should be appropriate for the performance of Poomsae movements. Finally, as for problems and improvement measures related to scoring, there should be a clear set of criteria for Poomsae kicking in Taekwondo; a specialized curriculum should be introduced for overseas judges in each continent for regular sessions of Poomsae education and scoring practice; and the game rules should be applied with consistency to national and international Poomsae competitions.
