초록

본 소론의 목적은 히브리서 13장 10-14절을 면밀하게 주석함으로써이 단락의 이면에 담겨져 있는 히브리 공동체의 정황을 추적하는 데있다. 더 나아가 여기서 추적된 히브리 공동체의 정황 가운데서 히브리서저자가 이 단락을 통하여 시사하는 바가 무엇인지를 고찰하고자 한다.
히브리서 13장 10-14절의 이면에 담긴 저자의 의도는 유대교를 상징하는진영 밖에 놓여 있는 히브리공동체의 위치를 정당화하려는 것이라 할수 있다. 다시 말하면, 히브리공동체가 유대교보다 유익함이 있다는점에서 상대적으로 우월한 사람들로 자신의 공동체의 정체를 규정하는정체성 확보의 기능을 수행한다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 유대교 안과밖을 상징하는 공간이 차지하는 의미는 이 단락을 이해하는 열쇠의역할을 하였다. 하지만, 본 소론은 유대교 안과 밖이라는 대조를 통하여단순히 공간의 메타포만을 다루려는 것이 아니다. 히브리서에서 전반에걸쳐서 유대교와 히브리공동체의 대조가 두드러지듯이, 이 단락에서는무익한 유대교와 유익한 히브리공동체의 대조를 볼 수 있다. 다시 말하면이 단락에서 유대교의 음식규례의 무익성을 드러내고 히브리공동체의유익성을 대조하려는 저자의 의도를 포착할 수 있다. 이 점이 유대교밖에 있는 히브리공동체의 정당성을 확보하기 위한 중요한 논점이었다.
이와 같은 대조의 배후에는 히브리서 저자의 신학적 의도뿐만 아니라,히브리서 수신 공동체의 정황이 놓여 있다.
더 나아가 수신 공동체가 주요한 논점으로 다루어야 했던 것은예수의 죽음이 주는 의미에 있다. 이 경우는 예수의 죽음의 의미를단지 공간적인 메타포만을 가지고서 설명할 수 없다는 것을 반영한다.
진영 밖에 불태워졌던 동물과 성문 밖의 그리스도를 동일하게 처리할때 파생될 수 있는 문제가 있기 때문이다. 만약 동일하게 처리할 경우, 히브리공동체가 저주받은 그리스도를 믿는 공동체로 명명될 수 있는어려움이다. 더 나아가 진영 안에 남아있는 부류와 진영 밖에 있는부류에 대한 해석에서 진영 밖이라는 의미가 줄 수 있는 저주받은 부류라는 인상은 히브리공동체의 정체성에 많은 어려움을 줄 수 있다. 따라서히브리서 저자는 성문 밖의 예수의 죽음이 하나님으로부터 저주가 아니라 백성들의 속죄를 위한 죽음이었다는 것을 설득력 있는 논증을 통하여변호함으로 공동체 내 구성원들 가운데 유대교로 전향하려는 그들의마음을 돌이키고자 한다. 여기서 히브리서 저자는 예루살렘 성을 영구하지 못한 성으로 설정하고 영구한 도성을 기다려야 한다는 것으로 제시한다. 이러한 구도를 통하여 히브리공동체는 상징적인 의미의 유대교인‘진영’ 밖에 위치해 있는 자신의 공동체의 정체성을 확보하려 했던것이다. 다시 말하면, 저자는 히브리서의 수신 공동체 구성원들에게유대교와 비교하여 우월한 그리스도교의 상을 제시하고, 상징적인 의미의 진영인 유대교 밖에 있는 자신들의 위치를 설명할 수 있어야 했다.

영어초록

The main objective of this article is to elucidate the social context of Hebrew Christian community through a delicate exegesis of Hebrews 13: 10−14. In addition, what the author of Hebrews signifies about the problem that Hebrew Christian community faces is scrutinized. I hypothesize that The Hebrews author's hidden intention inferred in Hebrews 13: 10−14 is to justify Hebrew Christian community referred to as “Outside the Camp.” In other words, the argument that Hebrew Christian community is more advantageous than orthodox Jewish community is believed to be very instrumental in establishing the very identity of Hebrew Christian community.
Therefore, the key to understanding Hebrews 13:10−14 lies in the significance of “Outside the Camp.”However, this study's concern is not confined only to spatial metaphor of “Outside the Camp.” As throughout the book of Hebrews there is a sharp contrast between Jewish community and Hebrew Christian community, Hebrews 13: 10−14 passage compares fruitless Judaism with fruitful Hebrew Christian community. In other words,the passage should be interpreted as a clear intention of the author:food code of Judaism is useless while Hebrew Christian community is beneficial. Such a contrast becomes a critical point to establish the justification of Hebrew Christian community standing “Outside the Camp.” Behind such a sharp comparison, we not only find out the theological intention of the Hebrews author, but also suppose the context of Hebrew Christian community which received the Epistle to Hebrews.
Another critical point of this passage lies in the fact that the recipient community was to account for the death of Jesus Christ.
In this case, the true meaning of Christ's death couldn't be understood only with spatial metaphor. It is due to the fact that if people find it hard to distinguish animal offering burnt outside the city gate from Christ “Outside the city gate”, a serious theological problem could have happened. In case of the same treatment of both cases,Hebrew Christian community could be accused of believing in the cursed Christ. Moreover, in interpreting remnant groups within the camp and outside the camp, Hebrew Christian community could confront identity crisis as the cursed group. Therefore, the author of Hebrews attempts to persuade Hebrew Christian members to believe that the death of Jesus is not God’s curse but vicarious atonement for His people, and thus to prohibit some of its members who are about to convert to Judaism from returning to Judaism.
The last, but not the least, point is that the author of Hebrews sets up Jerusalem as ephemeral, recommending the recipient community should wait for an enduring city. Through such a framework, Hebrew Christians try to found their genuine identity although they are situated “Outside the Camp.” To put it simply,demonstrating the superior image of Christ, the Hebrews author needs to explain their status symbolized in Outside the Camp.
Judaism emphasizes only futile food code. However, despite noncompliance of food code, Hebrew Christian community is not only given the forgiveness of sins by Jesus Christ, but also entitled to serve God. More importantly, while contemporary Judaism revels in vanished earthly sanctuary without any legitimate leadership,Hebrew Christian group equipped with genuine leadership not only looks forward to 'an enduring city' but also would reside in it.
