초록

일반적으로 고려시대를 문화의 황금기라고 일컫는다. 그러나 그 찬란한 문화에도 불구하고 현전하는 고려시대의 문집은 손으로 꼽을 정도이다. 따라서 고려시대 문인들에 대하여 시문선집, 시화집, 역사서, 지리지, 금석문 등에서 연구자료를 수습하여 문학사의 공백을 채우려는 노력이 절실히 요청되고 있다.이런 점에서 조선 인조 때 金烋(1597~1638)가 편찬한 海東文獻總錄은 고려시대의 문집에 대한 훌륭한 정보가 될 수 있다. 이것은 삼국시대로부터 당대에 이르기까지 편찬저술된 문헌자료들을 조사하여 해제를 해 놓고 있어, 고려시대 문헌의 일 면모를 짐작할 수가 있기 때문이다. 특히 현전하지 않는 문집에 대한 소개가 주목된다.김휴는 실물을 직접 조사수집하는 한편, 당시에 전래되던 각종 문헌에서 전적의 편찬과 관련된 기록들을 일괄 조사하여 書目을 편성하고 해제작업을 하였다. 그가 조사하여 서목에 포함시킨 문헌은 670여 종에 이르며, 학문 전 분야를 두루 포괄하고 있다. 조사 서목 중 고려시대의 문학자료는 80종이 넘으며, 고려시대 주요 문인들의 문집이 거의 망라되어 있다. 이를 통해 고려시대 한문학의 규모가 결코 작지 않음을 확인할 수가 있다. 특히 현전하지 않아 다소 생소한 문집의 명칭과 저자, 그리고 고려 후기 군소 작가들의 집중적인 문집 편찬 등은 주목되는 바이다.문헌에 대한 해제는 저자의 행적을 밝히는 데 주안점을 두어, 인물에 대한 출처를 우선으로 삼고 문장에 대한 논의는 뒤로 다루고자 하였다. 행적 중에서도 정치적 사건은 가급적 배제하고, 임금과의 관계나 대중국 외교에서의 역할, 그리고 학문과 관련한 내용을 중시하였으며, 저자의 훌륭한 행실뿐만 아니라 나쁜 면도 드러내었다.해제의 체재는 본문, 세주, 두주 3부분으로 이루어져 있으며, 그 서술방식은 거의 발췌와 인용이다. 김휴가 실물을 직접 확인한 자료의 경우 일부 그 내용과 자신의 의견을 기술하기도 하였지만, 그가 당시에 접하지 못했을 것으로 추측되거나 고려시대 문집의 경우 본문의 행적은 역사서나 저자의 묘지명에서 대부분 발췌요약하였고, 세주에는 시시화시평서문발문 등을 전재하여 참고가 되게 하였으며, 두주에는 보완 사항을 추기해 놓았다. 따라서 문집에 대한 해제는 전기적 성격과 시화적 성격을 아울러 띠며 종합적으로는 한 편의 작가론이라 할 수가 있다. 한편 현전하지 않은 고려시대 문집의 해제를 분석하는 과정에서 그 발췌인용의 출처를 구체적으로 확인한 결과, 高麗史의 해당 저자 열전과 東人詩話를 인용한 예가 가장 많았고 그외 高麗史節要, 破閑集, 補閑集, 翁稗說, 秋江冷話, 聞鎖錄, 大東聯珠詩格, 東文選, 靑丘風雅, 東國李相國集, 牧隱集, 三峯集, 陽村集, 春亭集, 退溪集 등을 참고한 것으로 나타났다. 고려 문인들의 행적과 시화시평을 많이 수록하고 있는 서적들을 실체 고증에 이용한 것이다.海東文獻總錄 所載 不傳 高麗文集에 대한 기록은 그 해제가 저자의 행적 위주이고 또 여러 문헌에서 인용한 것이어서 당장에 유용하다고 할 수는 없다. 그러나 해당 문집의 편성과 존재 사실을 알려줄 뿐만 아니라, 고려 한문학사의 공백을 메워줄 수 있는 단서가 되기에 충분하다.

영어초록

Though Goryeo is generally recognized as the golden age of culture, the number of literary collections that are still extant is very small to count on fingers. It is therefore greatly necessary to make academic efforts to fill up this blank period through compiling literary materials of Goryeo period ranging from anthology of poetry, Sihwajip (collections of background stories related poetry writings), history books, geography books, inscriptions written by the literary class of Goryeo period.
In this regard, 『Haedong Munheon Chongnok (海東文獻總錄), Annotated Catalogue of Korean Documents』compiled and published by Kim, Hyoo (金烋 1957~1638) during the reign of King Injong, is a significant masterpiece providing valuable information on the collections of writings published in Goryeo period. This book contains annotated bibliography of all kinds of compiled or written documents from the Three Kingdoms period to his contemporary times. It is from this book that useful aspects of Goryeo's literatures can be traced. The fact draws even more attention to this book that it includes introduction of the collections of writings in Goryeo period no longer handed down today.
Kim, Hyoo not only examined and compiled each available book by himself but he also scrutinized all the records related to book publications in almost all kinds of literatures transmitted at that time. Then he completed a catalogue of books and put bibliographical explanation to each book. The number of books he included into the catalogue of books reaches up to approximately 670 and nearly all fields of study are evenly dealt with. More than 80 books of the catalogue belong to Goryeo period and majority of writing collections by the distinguished Goryeo literary men are included. This confirms the fact that the scale of Sino-Korean literature (漢文學) can not have been so small in Goryeo period. Special attention should be paid to the unfamiliar titles of writing collections and writers no longer preserved nowadays and the incident where intensive publication of writing collections was made by minor writers during the late Goryeo period.
Each bibliographical explanation focuses on writer's biographical history and its source more than literary criticism of the work. Political career is rather excluded in discussing writer's life but writer's relationship with the king, writer's diplomatic role in relation with China and personal academic history is importantly dealt with. Explanation reveals negative aspects as well as positive side of writers.
Each bibliographical explanation is composed of three sections; main text, Seju and Duju. Excerpt and quotation are the main forms of text description. For documents Kim, Hyoo could read, he summarized contents and left his own comments. For other documents he could not checked and the writing collections of Goryeo, he excerpted or summarized from epitaph of relevant writers or from history book to describe writers biography in main text. In Seju are included reproductions of poems, background of poems, critics of poems, preface and epilogue as a way of footnote for reference. In Duju are added supplementary details. Therefore, bibliographical explanation in this great book can be defined as biographical records of writers, Sihwa (background stories related poetry writings) and comprehensive critique of writers.
In analytical process of bibliographical explanation on the writing collections of Goryeo not available today, specific sources of excerpts, quotations have been reviewed. The result shows that a series of biographies in Goryeosa (History of Goryeo), Dongin Sihwa (Comments on the Works by Korean Poets)are most frequently used. Other sources of reference include Goryeosa jeoryo (Condensed History of Goryeo), Pahan-jip (Collection of Works to Dispel Leisure), Bohan-jip (Collection to Relieve Idleness), Yeogong paeseol (Scribblings of Old Man Oak), Chugang naenghwa (Casual Tales Told), Somun swerok, Daedong yeonju sigyeok ,Dongmunseon (Anthology of Korean Literature), Cheongu punga, Dongguk isangguk jip(Collected Works of Minister Lee of the Eastern Kingdom), Mogeunjip (Collected Works of Mogeun), Sambong-jip (Collected Works of Sambong) Yangchon-jip (Collected Works of Yangchon). Chungjeong-Jip Toegye-jip (Colleted Works of Toegye). It can be concluded that books with affluent information on biographical records of writers, Sihwa (background stories related poetry writings), poem critiques were used for bibliographical research.
The records on writing collections of Goryeo preserved in Haedong Munheon Chongnok (海東文獻總錄), Annotated Catalogue of Korean Documents may not seem to serve to us with immediate usefulness because it merely provides the biographical information of writers compiled through quoting from other various sources. Nevertheless, it assures us the existence of Goryeo writing collections not preserved today as well as how each collection is composed of. This single fact can be enough to placeHaedong Munheon Chongnok (海東文獻總錄), Annotated Catalogue of Korean Documents as a crucial clue to fill up the blank period in the history of Sino-Korean literature in Goryeo period.
