전시 내러티브 사례 분석 연구 - 간송문화전을 중심으로 - (A Case Study of Exhibition Narrative Analysis: Based on the Kansong Culture Exhibition)

초록

본 연구에서는 미술 작품의 선택과 배치에 따른 전시, 전시 설명 텍스트, 디지털 이미지 등을 통해 전시 내러티브가 어떻게 형성되는지 간송문화전을 한 사례로 분석하였다. 연구의 방법은 전시 내러티브 관련 문헌 및 선행 연구를 고찰하고, 전시 내러티브의 관점에서 전시의 주제와 방법을 중심으로 분석하였으며 관람자를 대상으로 구조화된 면담을 수행하였다. 전시 주제의 내러티브 특징은 첫째, 수집가의 삶의 궤적이 묻어난 수집 일화를 중심으로 한 내러티브, 둘째, 수집을 통해 정당화된 ‘명작’ 중심의 전시라는 점을 제시하였다. 전시 방법의 내러티브 특징으로는 첫째, 제한적 접근으로의배치, 둘째, 원작과 디지털 이미지의 혼종이라는 차원에서 되짚어 보았다. 분석 내용을 바탕으로 한 전시 내러티브의 대안적 방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 배제된 수집 이야기의 적극적인 제시와 관련하여, 간송 전형필의 수집에 관한 직접적인 자료 전시가 요구되며, 간송 전형필의 수집에 대한 사회적, 맥락적 접근이 필요하다. 둘째, 이번 전시의 특징이 원작과 디지털의 하이브리드 전시이며 테크놀로지를 활용한 전시라는 점에서 원작의 조형성과 맥락성의 조화 그리고 관람자의 적극적인 참여를 고무시키기 위해양방향적 소통 방식에 따른 테크놀로지의 활용이 필요하다. 마지막으로 다양한 관람계층의 교육적 수요를 충족시키기 위한 적극적인 노력을 통해 진정한 대중 친화적 전시가 되어야 한다.

영어초록

This study examines a case of the Kansong Culture Exhibition,interested in how the exhibition, through the arrangement of artworksincluding visual image, text, digital image, an exhibition constructs itsown narrative. The research method is to inquire the related referencesabout exhibition narrative and analyze the exhibition based on its themeand method in terms of exhibition narrative. The narrativecharacteristics of the exhibition theme are as followed. First, a narrativebased on the collection stories which show the collector’s life. Second,‘master’ artwork centered exhibition narrative through his collecting. Thenarrative characteristics of the exhibition method are the design ofrestricted accessability to the artwork in exhibition and the hybrid of theoriginal artworks and digital images.
This study, in conclusion, suggests that exhibition narratives should bedesigned to elicit enlightened understandings from visitors in thatexhibition is a pedagogical device for general viewers. First, theexhibition narrative should be providing another narratives of collectionswhich had been neglected in the exhibition, in order to elicit viewer'sown inferences for contextual understandings of the collection ofKansong. Second, since this is the hybrid exhibition in terms of the mixof objects and digital images and uses the technology, this study suggeststhe harmony of formalism and contextuality of artworks and thetechnology application for the active participation of visitors through interactive communication. Finally, the study suggests it should be apublic-friendly exhibition through the efforts for satisfying theeducational demands of diverse types of visitors.
