일본의 총합적 학습시간과 한국의 창의적 체험활동의 함의 비교 (Implicational Comparison between Classroom Hours for Integrated Learning in Japan and Creative Experience Activities in Korea)

초록

이 연구의 목적은 한국의 ‘창의적 체험활동’과 일본의 ‘총합적 학습시간’의 도입 과정과 교육목표 및 편제, 교육내용을 비교학적 관점에서 살펴봄으로써 한국의 ‘창의적 체험활동’의 효율적인 운영을 위한 시사점을 제공하려는 것이다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘창의적 체험활동’과 ‘총합적 학습시간’의 도입 배경은 두 나라가 모두 변화하는 현대 사회에 적응하고 교육적 요구에 부응하기 위한 교육과정 편성․운영상의 재량권과 자율권을 단위 학교로 이양하려는 의도를 지니고 있었다. 둘째, ‘창의적 체험활동’과 ‘총합적 학습시간’의 교육 목표는 미래 사회를 이끌어 갈 수 있는 주도적인 능력과 창의성을 신장시킬 수 있는 특색 있는 교육 활동과 인간 중심주의 교육 과정 정신을 구현한다는 점에서 공통점이 있었다. ‘창의적 체험활동’과 ‘총합적 학습시간’이라는 명칭이, 한국은 ‘창의적 체험활동’으로 고정되어 있는 반면, 일본은 ‘총합적 학습’이라는 비교과 활동의 내용에 따라 각 단위 학교가 자유롭게 명명할 수 있도록 일임한다는 점에서 차이가 있었다. 셋째, ‘창의적 체험활동’과 ‘총합적 학습시간’의 교육 내용은 두 나라 모두 세계화된 사회가 요청하는 국제적 이해, 정보 활용, 환경․문화교육, 보건․복지, 개인의 연구․체험 활동 등을 과제로 삼고 있다는 점에서는 공통점이 있으나 학습 활동의 양식은 크게 차이가 있었다. 이러한 결과들에서, 한국의 창의적 체험활동을 효율적으로 운영하기 위해서는 범 교과 학습의 범주에서 교사의 전문성과 자율성에 따라 학교 활동 전체 차원에서 이루어지도록 독려할 필요가 있을 것으로 생각된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to provide implications for efficient operation of ‘creative experience activities’ in Korea by comparing the ‘creative experience activities’ in Korea and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ in Japan. Specifically, their educational objectives, organization, and educational contents are compared. The results of this study are as follows.
First, the introduction background of ‘creative experience activities’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ had the intention to transfer discretion and autonomy in the curriculum organization and operation to the unit school to adapt to the changing modern society and meet educational needs.
Second, the educational objectives of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ have common points in that they embody the characteristic educational activity and human-centered educational process spirit that can lead the future society and enhance the initiative ability and creativity. In terms of the names of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’, Korea is fixed as ‘creative experience activity’ while Japan is not fixed as ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ There was a difference in that they were assigned to each school so that they could freely set up their characteristics.
Third, the contents of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ have common points in that both countries have tasks such as international understanding, information utilization, environmental education, national cultural identity education, health, welfare, subject inquiry activity, joint research, and experiential activity requested by the globalized society, but there were significant differences in the styles that present the learning contents.
In these results, it is necessary to encourage the teachers to be able to perform the creative experience activities in the whole level of school activities in the professional manner and autonomy of the teachers in the category of the learning of the subject in order to operate the creative experience activities in Korea efficiently.
