아쟁연구의 재조명 (Review of Studies on Ajaeng)

초록

It is twenty years since a Korean musical instrument called Ajaeng(seven-string bowed zither) was taken as a major in official educational institutions. It is true that there were not regular studies on ajaeng but such studies were carried out as thematic access involved with other Korean musical instruments 20 years ago. Now because ajaeng was established in official educational institutions as a major, full scale discussions on it are being carried out with many research subjects and methods. Studies on ajaeng are hardening their frames with various subjects and purposes: Studies on the Musical Instrument Theory of Ajaeng(6), Studies on Court Music(2)(Jeongak) and Folk Music(26), Discussions on Sanjo(25) and Sinawi(1) with Different Styles in Folk Music, Studies on Ajaeng Ch'angjakkok that are newly composed(3), Publishing of the Music Books of Court Music, Sanjo and Ch'angjakkok (court music(4), sanjo(3) & ch'angjakkok(1)) and that of an Ajaeng Manual(1) necessary for systematic instructional method, Instructional Planning for Younger Students, An annotation on ajaeng(1) which has been studied all the while and so on. The current studies on Korean folk music are showing newer aspects with technical progress and various academic research methods day by day. If the future research directions are set up and research culture is established on the basis of data which have been discussed until now, the learning relevant to ajaeng will be helpful for developing more diverse and wider research methods and discussions.
