유니버설 디자인 관점으로 본 베이징(北京市) 버스정류장의 사용자 평가 (User Evaluation of Beijing Bus Stations from the Perspective of Universal Design)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 중국은 급격한 고령화와 함께 장애인 인구 증가로 인해 무장애 시설에 대한 요구가 높아지고 있다. 그러나 최근 버스정류장에 대한 조사 결과, 노인과 장애인을 비롯한 취약계층의 요구가 충분히 반영되지 않아 이동 편의성과 사회적 형평성이 저하되고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 유니버설 디자인 개념을 도입하여 대중교통 시설의 접근성과 사용자 경험을 개선할 필요성이 강조된다. 이에 본 연구는 베이징 실제 버스정류장 사용자를 대상으로 사용자 만족도를 조사하고, 유니버설 디자인 관점에서의 요구 사항을 분석하여 디자인 개선 방향을 제안함으로써 다양한 사용자의 편의를 증진하고자 한다. (연구방법) 본 연구는 이론적 고찰을 통해 유니버설 디자인과 버스정류장의 개념을 정리한 후, 선행 연구에서 사용된 버스정류장 유니버설 디자인 평가표를 바탕으로 설문지를 설계하였다. 설문 조사를 통해 사용자들의 만족도와 개선 의견을 수집하였다. 마지막으로, 조사 데이터를 분석하고 사용자가 제시한 버스정류장에 대한 의견과 요구 사항을 바탕으로 디자인 개선 방향을 제안하였다. (결과) 연구 결과에 따르면, 유니버설 디자인에 대한 인식은 아직 낮은 수준에 있으며, 응답자의 약 47.84%만이 유니버설 디자인에 대해 들어본 적이 있다고 응답하였다. 그중 82.64%가 버스정류장에서 유니버설 디자인의 반영이 매우 중요하다고 응답하여, 대다수 응답자가 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 본 연구의 베이징 지역 버스정류장 시설에 대한 사용자 평가 결과는, 유니버설 디자인 요소 중 쾌적성, 접근성, 정보성에 대해 전반적으로 높은 만족도를 보였고, 만족도 점수가 모두 4점 이상이었다. 반면, 수용성과 안전성에 대한 만족도는 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 또한, 사용자들의 버스정류장에 대한 요구 사항을 분석한 결과, 쾌적성 요소와 관련된 제안 빈도가 가장 높았으며, 접근성과 관련된 제안 빈도는 가장 낮았다. (결론) 본 연구는 베이징 버스정류장 시설의 사용자 만족도와 개선 요구를 통해, 앞으로의 디자인 방향을 제시하였다. 버스정류장은 유니버설 디자인의 5가지 요소(쾌적성, 수용성, 접근성, 안전성, 정보성) 중 일부가 적용되어 있으나, 여전히 개선이 필요한 부분이 많다. 사용자 피드백을 바탕으로 본 연구는 악천후에서 편안한 대기 환경, 벤치 쾌적성 경험 향상, 벤치와 정류장 공간의 배치 최적화, 유도블록과 점자 표지판, 바닥 단차이 시설 보완, 안전 울타리 설치, 대기 구역 제시, 실시간 도착 정보 서비스 제공을 제안한다. 이는 베이징 버스정류장의 사용자 경험을 개선하는 데 기여할 뿐만 아니라, 다른 지역의 버스정류장 디자인에도 참고자료로 활용될 수 있어 유니버설 디자인 개념의 실천과 적용에 도움이 될 것이다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) China faces an increasing demand for barrier-free facilities owing to its rapidly aging population and increasing number of people with disabilities. However, current research on bus stations reveals that the needs of vulnerable groups, including older adults and people with disabilities, have not been adequately addressed, resulting in a lack of mobility convenience and a low level of social equity. The concept of universal design should be introduced to improve accessibility and user experiences in public transportation facilities. This study aimed to enhance the convenience of various user groups by investigating user satisfaction at Beijing’s bus stations and analyzing these issues from the perspective of universal design. Additionally, directions for further improvement were proposed. (Method) This study summarized the concepts of universal design for bus stations through a theoretical exploration. Subsequently, a questionnaire was designed based on the universal design evaluation form for bus stations, which has been previously used in research. User evaluations and suggestions for improvement were collected using the survey. Finally, the survey data were analyzed, and directions for future improvements were proposed based on users’ opinions and needs regarding the current state of bus stations. (Results) The user evaluation results for the Beijing area bus stations showed an overall high level of satisfaction with pleasantness, accessibility, and communicability among the universal design factors, with satisfaction scores of 4 or higher.
However, satisfaction with adaptability and safety was relatively low. Furthermore, an analysis of user suggestions revealed that proposals related to pleasantness were mentioned the most frequently, whereas suggestions related to accessibility were the least frequent. (Conclusions) This study analyzed user evaluations and the demand for improvement in Beijing bus station facilities to offer future design directions. Bus stations currently facilitate some elements of universal design (pleasantness, adaptability, accessibility, safety, and communicability); however, there are still many areas that require improvement. Based on the user feedback analysis, this study proposes a comfortable atmospheric environment in bad weather, improved bench comfort experience, optimized arrangement of bench and station spaces, guidance blocks and Braille signs, supplementation of floor difference facilities, installation of safety fences, presentation of waiting areas, and provision of real-time arrival information services. This can contribute to improving the user experience of Beijing bus stations and be used as reference material for bus station design in other regions, thereby fostering the practice and application of the concept of universal design.
