우한일기 논쟁을 통해 살펴본 공감장의 형성과 투쟁 (The Creation and Struggle of a Sympathetic Field in the Wuhan Diary Controversy)

초록

중국 정부는 IT산업 발전을 위한 대대적인 지원과 인터넷 사용자에 대한 검열을 통해 여론을 통제해왔다. 이런 상황 속에서 서로 다른 정치적 주장들이 대등한 투쟁을 전개하는 것은 거의 불가능한 일이 되다시피 했으나, 2020년 우한봉쇄 시기 정치권력에 비판적인 목소리를 내는 사람들이 등장하기 시작했다. 이들을 중심으로 형성된 공감장은 친정부 성향 공감장의 공격에 대항하며 인터넷 공간 내에서 ‘진실’･‘인민’･‘양심’ 등의 내기물을 두고 투쟁을 전개하였다. 본 논문은 코로나19 발생 초기 팡팡의 우한일기를 둘러싼 논쟁에서 ‘감성적 근대’에 저항하고 극복하려는 이들의 노력이 어떻게 진행되는지를 살펴보고, 이 저항세력이 만들었던 공감장이 어떠한 대안적 성격을 지니고 있으며 이러한 움직임들이 향후 중국에 가져올 영향력은 무엇인지 논의하고자 한다.

영어초록

Since the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989, the Chinese government has induced the young generation to identify themselves with the Party and the state through the reinforcement of patriotism education and controlled public opinions through its massive support for the development of the IT industry and the censorship of Internet users. These measures have made it almost impossible for different political arguments to develop, but some Chinese people have started to voice their criticisms about the political authorities of China during the Wuhan lockdown in 2020. They are active as emotional subjectivities trying to overcome the Chinese-style emotional modern tamed by capital and state power. The sympathetic field created by emotional subjectivities has developed its struggle over such stakes as truth, people and conscience in Internet space, engaging in creative fights against the attacks of the pro-government forces.
This study set out to examine how these groups developed their efforts to resist and overcome the emotional modern in the controversy over Fang Fang's Wuhan diary in the early days of COVID-19 and discuss the alternative nature of the sympathetic field created by the rebels and the impacts of these movements on China in the future.
A sympathetic field created by emotional subjectivities will withdraw due to external attacks such as political authority and capital or lose its driving force after achieving what they are oriented toward. It is the same case with the sympathetic field during the Wuhan lockdown. It failed to restore its old vitality as the Chinese government's COVID-19 measures began to generate effects with people slowly returning to their old daily lives. This sympathetic field, however, still leaves room for a prediction that people will band together again, demanding humanistic values amid the cracks of solid rule.
