하천 작 1727년 관음사 목조보살상의 종합적 연구 (A comprehensive Study on the Wooden Bodhisattva Statue(1727) at the Gwaneumsa Temple made by Hacheon)

초록

대구 관음사 장 송림사 보살상에 대하여 다음과 같은 점을 밝히게 되었다.
첫째, 관음사 보살상의 조성 배경을 조성발원문과 원 소장처인 송림사 명부전과 연관시켜 살펴보았다. 이 보살상은 송림사 명부전의 주존인 천장보살상이 손상을 입은 후 대체 상으로 동화사 삼세불상의 조성 조각승에게 주문하여 조성한 천장보살일 가능성을 조심스럽게 제시해 보았다.
둘째, 관음사 보살상의 도상 특징은 친근감 나는 얼굴과 당당한 체구의 형태가 하천 작 보살상들과 비교해보아 거의 유사하고 하천 작 보살상을 대표하는 특징이 있다는 사실을 밝히게 되었다.
셋째, 관음사 보살상은 조성발원문에 1727년 5월에 조성하여 송림사 명부전에 봉안했다는 기록에 의하여 1727년 작이 틀림없는데 이 것을 1726년 지장암 관음보살상이나 1726년 문수암 관음보살상, 1727년(1-4월) 동화사 삼세불상과 비교하여 보아도 1727년 작으로 확정할 수 있다.
넷째, 복장품으로 발원문(시주질), 후령통, 불교전적(대방광불화엄경소, 묘법연화경 권7, 다라니) 등이 나와 조선시대 불상 복장품 연구와 불교전적 연구에 크게 기여할 수 있다.
다섯째, 이 관음사 보살상은 하천 작 불보살상의 대표작일 뿐만 아니라 조선 후반기 불상 조각의 대표작으로 높이 평가되므로 조선불교조각사에 큰 의의를 가진다고 평가된다.

영어초록

The following points were revealed about the Songrim-sa temple Bodhisattva statue owned by Daegu Gwaneum-sa temple.
First, the production background of the Gwaneum-sa temple Bodhisattva statue was examined in relation to the production prayer statement and the original collection location, the Songrim-sa temple Myungbujeon-hall. We carefully suggest the possibility that this Bodhisattva statue is the Divyagarbhah Bodhisattva statue, produced by ordering the production sculptor monk of the Three World Buddha statue at Donghwa-sa temple as a replacement statue after the main statue of Divyagarbhah Bodhisattva statue at the Songrim-sa temple Myungbujeon-hall was damaged.
Second, it has been revealed that the iconographic characteristics of the Gwaneum-sa temple Bodhisattva statue are that the friendly face and dignified physique are almost similar to the Bodhisattva statues produced by Ha-cheon, and that it has characteristics that represent the Bodhisattva statue produced by Ha-cheon.
Third, the Gwaneum-sa temple Bodhisattva statue must have been made in 1727, as the production prayer statement records that it was produced in May 1727 and enshrined in Songrim-sa temple Myungbujeon-hall. Comparing this statue with the Jijang-am temple Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue in 1726, the Munsu-am temple Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue in 1726, and the Donghwa-sa temple Three World Buddha statue in 1727 (January-April), it can be confirmed that it was created in 1727.
Fourth, the chest-inside artifacts include prayer statements, Huryeongtong, Buddhist scriptures (Daebanggwangbul-Hwaeomgyeongso, Saddharma-pundari-ka-Sutra volume 7, Darani), etc., It can greatly contribute to the Joseon dynasty Buddha statue chest-inside artifact research and Buddhism scriptures research.
Fifth, as this Gwaneum-sa temple Bodhisattva statue is not only a representative work of the Bodhisattva statues produced by Ha-cheon, but also is highly regarded as a representative work of Buddha statue sculpture in the late Joseon period, it is evaluated as having great significance in the Joseon Buddhist sculpture history.
