자아존중감 제고를 위한 ‘철학하기’ 방법 모색: 군입대로 우울감과 자아존중감 손상을 중심으로 (Seeking for a ‘philosophy’ method to improve self-esteem : Focused on depressed feelings and self-esteem damage caused by military enlistment)

초록

본 연구는 입대를 앞둔 청년들이 대학생활을 하며 새로운 자유와 권리를 경험함과 동시에 입대라는 관문을 통과하면서 강제성과 부과되는 과업들로 인해 경험하게 될 스트레스와 우울감과 같은 부정적 심리상태로 인해 훼손될 수 있는 자아존중감과 자기 효능감의 제고를 위한 방법을 모색하는 것을 목표로 한다.
이를 위해 논자는 ‘철학하기’를 제안한다. 철학상담과 어린이 철학교육의 방법을 제안하지만, 양자의 활동들은 모두 제 3자의 개입을 포함하고 있다. 그러나 청년기의 특성상 그들은 자신의 심리 상황 및 환경을 타자와 공유하기를 쉽게 허용하지 않을 수 있다. 그러한 이유로 제 3자의 개입을 해체한 철학하기의 방법을 모색하고자 한다.
철학상담의 경우는 상담가의 철학적 역량, 어린이 철학교육의 경우는 철학교사의 철학적 역량이 요구되는 것은 사실이다. 그러나 이러한 활동들이 궁극적으로는 인간의 문제, 즉 나의 문제를 인지하고, 그러한 문제를 스스로 해소하는 것을 지향하고 있기 때문에 구체적인 프로그램과 계획이 동반된다면 제 3자의 개입 없이 부정적 심리상황을 호전시킬 수 있으리라고 기대한다. 이를 위해 실험을 통해 그 효용성이 일부 입증된 긍정심리 프로그램의 일부 내용을 활용할 수 있음을 제안한다.
본 연구에서 청년들의 심리상황의 부정성을 해소하기 위해 매우 세부적이고, 구체적인 프로그램 개발을 시도하지는 못했다. 이에 관한 연구는 매우 장시간, 매우 치밀하게 이루어져야 할 것이다. 다만 국방의 의무가 당연하기 때문에 쉬운 일이 아니며, 청년들의 심리상황이 건강하지만은 않을 수 있다는 사실을 인지하고, 그들을 위한 노력이 필요하고 가치가 있음을 인지해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to find ways to improve self-esteem and self-efficacy that can be undermined by negative psychological conditions such as stress and depression that young people who are about to join the army will experience new freedom and rights while passing through the gate of enlistment.
To this end, the commentator proposes “philosophy”. Philosophical counseling and children's philosophical education methods are proposed, but both activities include third-party intervention. However, due to the nature of adolescence, they may not easily allow them to share their psychological situations and environments with others. For that reason, I would like to find a way to a philosophy that dismantles the intervention of third parties.
In the case of philosophical counseling, it is true that the philosophical capacity of a counselor is required, and in the case of children's philosophical education, the philosophical capacity of a philosophy teacher is required. However, since these activities ultimately aim to recognize human problems, that is, my problems, and solve them on my own, I hope that if specific programs and plans are accompanied, the negative psychological situation will be improved without the intervention of third parties. As a consequence, it is suggested that some of the contents of the positive psychology program, whose effectiveness has been partially proven through experiments, can be used.
In this study, a very detailed and specific program development was not attempted to resolve the negativity of the psychological situation of young people. Research on this will have to be conducted for a very long time and very carefully. However, it is not easy because the duty of national defense is natural, and it is necessary to recognize that the psychological situation of young people may not be healthy, and that efforts for them are necessary and valuable.
