Motivations of the Korean Christian Pilgrimage to Outbound: The analysis of the difference according to the faith stages of Christians

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the tourism motivations and satisfactions according to the faith stages of the Christians who experienced the pilgrimage to outbound. Factors which consisted of the pilgrimage tourism motivations were 'petition, leisure, religious events, faith, the Holy Spirit, study'. Of the tourism motivations, four factors except petition and religious events had an influence on the satisfactions of pilgrimage. 'Leisure' motivation appeared to be a variable which had the most significant influence, followed by 'faith', 'study', 'the Holy Spirit' in order.
The results of the analysis on pilgrimage tourism motivations were as follows : First, if there were no differences in the duties, the motivation factors which differed according to the faith period were petition and the Holy Spirit. Second, if there were differences in the duties, the factors which didn't differ according to the faith period were faith and study. Third, it was analysed that religion events motivations had differences according to the faith period and duties. Fourth, leisure motivations had no differences in duties and the faith period, and in the dimension of satisfactions motivations didn't differ according to duties but did according to the faith period. In addition, when the correlation effect between duties and the faith period was considered, both lay-believers and active lay-believers who had faith for less than 5 years than for more than 5 years showed a higher level of petition, religious events, and the Holy Spirit, and lay-believers in more than 5 years showed a higher level of leisure, faith and study motivations and so did active lay-believers in less than 5 years. The correlation effect between duties and the faith period had no influence on satisfactions. And regardless of duties, it was analyzed that those who had faith for more than 5 years had a higher level of satisfactions than those for less than 5 years.
