장애인 대학생이 인식하는 장애인 교원 임용에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Awareness of the Disabled College Students about the Employment of Teacher with Disabilities)

초록

본 연구는 2006년부터 장애인 고용의무 제외 직종 축소에 따라 교원도 고용 의무 대상 직종에 포함됨으로써 3%의 장애인 의무 고용률을 충족시켜야 하지만 그렇지 못하고 있는 현실을 개선하고자 시작되었다. 즉 장애인 교원 임용을 확대시키기 위하여 장애인 대학생을 대상으로 장애인 교원 임용 진입 전의 어려움과 장애인 교원 임용 확대방안에 대한 인식을 파악하고 장애인 교원 임용 확대를 위한 제도적인 방안들을 구체적으로 모색하고자 하였다. 장애인 교원 임용 진입 전의 어려움으로는 장애인이 대학생활 전공을 선택 시 고려하는 사항들과 대학생활에서의 어려움이 있는지 그리고 장애인 교원확충방안을 조사하였다. 특히 교원 임용을 준비하면서 대학생활 중에 느끼는 어려움과 그들의 목소리를 직접 담기 위하여 사범대에 재학 중인 장애인 대학생을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과 장애인 대학생도 비장애인 대학생과 마찬가지로 적성과 관심, 취업전망 등이 대학 및 학과를 선택하는 중요한 기제로 나타났다. 또한 피동적 동기에 의하여 학과를 선택하는 경우도 있었다. 그리고 많은 장애인 대학생들이 편의시설 및 학업 수행 등에서 대학생활에서 어려움을 경험하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 마지막으로 장애인 교원 확대 방안으로는 초·중등교원 장애인의무고용제에 대한 홍보가 시급하며, 장애인에 대한 문호개방, 장애인 대학생에 대한 더 많은 배려, 시험상의 제약 해결 등의 정책을 제안하였고, 학교지도층, 동료교사, 학생 및 학부모의 인식의 개선이 필요함을 피력하였다. 또한 교단에서 수업교재 및 보조도구의 설치와 편의시설 정비 등의 환경이 개선되어야 함을 시사하였다.

영어초록

This research was started to find a way to improve reality in which 3% disabled teacher employment requirement has not been met, although teacher was included in occupation category which demands 3% of obligatory rate of disabled person employment following the 2006 reduction of occupations which were excluded from the obligation of disabled person employment. That is, to improve the employment of disabled teachers, the study intended to grasp difficulties for college students with disabilities have undergone to be employed as teachers and to find practical and administrative alternatives to expand employment of disabled teachers in detail through study of the existing system. To find out difficulties of students, research was implemented on what classes they preferred to attend, what difficulties they have encountered in college life, and what they think on the expansion of disabled teachers. In-depth interviews with college students with disabilities attending colleges of education to understand the difficulties of disabled students while preparing for employment. The result showed that major drivers of selecting curricula and major for these students have been aptitudes, interests and employment prospects just like any other students. Some students selected their majors due to passive motives. It is analyzed that many students with disabilities have experienced some kinds of difficulties in terms of convenience facilities and academic activities. Finally, to increase the number of disabled teachers, the study proposed to improve publicization of the obligatory employment of disabled persons as elementary/secondary teachers and to promote programs for disabled students to expand employment opportunities and offer more considerations in terms of college life and academic activities, as well as to improve recognition of top management, colleagues, students and parents on persons with disabilities. The study also proposed to install / upgrade educational support facilities and materials, and to renovate convenience facilities.
